Which way do you like MT better, CCW or CW? I'm not sure which I like better...
CCW you get to go down the ravine, but CW you get to go down the rocky section.

I'm leaning toward CW. But then the ravine section is unmakeable. I Still think I like it CW better though.

Which way do you like MT better, CCW or CW? I'm not sure which I like better... CCW you get to go down the ravine, but CW you get to go down the rocky section. I rode each direction yesterday afternoon. There is more "tower trail" style climbing CCW. This is dead fall line, steep. I thought a creek crossing or two was difficult to even walk up CW. I thought the off camber was difficult both ways. I didn't clean it either direction yesterday. I think I like it slightly better CCW, because it is harder to climb that way. There are 2-5 immediate needs to be addressed at this trail. One of the creek crossings needs work bad. I think Mark H nailed it yesterday at this one. Looks like a few years ago a large tree blocked the line across this creek. The new line is steep on side and REALLY steep on the other. I think we cut the tree out and reclaim the old line. Another spot is just a seasonal streambed for the trail. Great when dry, but yesterday was not dry. It was BB deep. And the climb to the paved road, up the steps....is in need of a reroute badly. It was ugly yesterday. Roads dump alot of water into the woods as a general rule. And this road is dumping water down a steep hill that the trail goes straight up and down. This is my favorite trail we have to ride right now. It is way more difficult than anything at FATS and climbs about 100 feet per mile. But if got traffic like old Tower Trail got, it would go the way of the old Tower Trail....erosion and ruts everywhere.

You're right about the tree in the stream crossing - came down within past year - it's on my do-list but a bit down in the pecking order. Would like some help on this one - it's big and many limbs.
High water makes for a couple of 'interesting' spots on Rock Dam Trail.
Going up to the paved road is a mess and will only get worse. Of course, one can avoid either leg going to the road by entering off Ridge Rd and just doing the RD loop.

TedS is a Beast. Congrats.
Don't have any desire to spend 7+ hours on those trails though.
Rather ride MT around in circles 7 times like a rabid rat in a cage or KC and MT together 2 or 3 times. That's just me though.
Love MT both directions.
Harder climbs CCW.
Love the off camber rocks and roots both ways. Only spot around with a pucker factor.
Love the challenge of all the Creek crossings. Wouldn't want to mess with them too much.
Love the ravine both ways. Really tough going CW especially when wet like that.
I am willing to help cut the trees off DP. Just let me know.
One of the two best rides in the CSRA IMHO. Wish it didn't take an hour to get there.
Potential is unlimited there. Could be a MTB Heaven.

sounds like I need to ride it cw. The slot is easy enough to ride back down (really love that section)
Anyone thinking of doing the Christmas party ride this Saturday? Never rode it and am thinking of it.
