looking to ride both Parks on Sunday. Prolly start in HKSP and ride everything there. Ride over to BCSP on the roads and do a lap there, eating lunch sometime about here. Then ride back to HKSP on roads. If we stop there it is about 45 ish miles.
Will take about 5 hours total and 4 hours on the bike.
Will start early AM. Not sure what time.
If this interest you, respond here or email me.

Woog, I made the connection from the road into the back of HKSP at the skeet range! This time I did it the other direction - coming back into HKSP from BCSP. Tom and Milo wanted no part of it (can;t blame 'em), so I got off the back and cut into the woods alone. Pretty good doubletrack all the way into the park, then onto old roadbed (I think the same one we found a month ago). Then, I just jumped off, hike-a-bike for about a minute, and popped out in the skeet range. Pretty sure if I had stayed on the old roadbed, I would have crossed the Beaver Run Trail at the sand pile. Good ride, except we rode BCSP counter clockwise - I like it much better clockwise. We get started early in this heat. We'll get you in in the next one. Edited to add: It is smarter to start/end this ride in BCSP instead of HKSP. The lake is more accessible from BCSP.

Excellent job on putting together the rest of the connection to the road. That will definitely make it a nicer ride. I liked it back there behind the skeet range. I hear you on the temps. Still disappointed to miss it though. Everytime I do y'all get stronger and I get weaker. God forbid someone starts calling me a gaper....

I'd say my preferred route is now prolly Turkey Ridge Loop, Lake Loop, back into Turkey Ridge Loop. Off the trail at the green power box (where we jumped out nearer the park entrance). Out of the park to BCSP.
Then on the way back to HKSP, cut into the private road and take it all the way to the Beaver Run Trail. Ride it to the lodge and back to skeet range. Then paved road to Turkey Ridge sneak spot (by the road sign in the park - there is a line there now starting to form). Ride back to car on Turkey Ridge Trail.

" Beaver Run Trail at the sand pile" is about where we saw the turtle? We need to run a gps out there. My mental compass thinks its not that far from Turkey Ridge (across from the barn, right?) to where we were behind the skeet range. Its been woefully wrong before though. Maybe Milo and Tom can scope it out for us.....

Very close to where we saw the turtle. The sand pile is on the access road just before the turtle site.
The problem is the topography of the stuff in the curve in the road. Dead flat. The trail needs to be built up there with a turnpike or causeway. Not impossible, just needs about a qtr mile of elevated trail, and the rest can meander down the hill to the creek crossing. Build a bridge over the creek and some trail up to Turkey Ridge and that's it.
I'd guess there is 3500 feet to build, of which 1350 could be causeway. One bridge to Parks spec. Not too tall an order really. You know any scouts looking for a project? ;D

Gonna do it again this Sunday, June 13. Start/finish in Baker Creek this time - ahhhhh the lake is so nice after a long ride.
Start is targeted for 9:30AM meeting at BCSP Pavillion. I plan to take some food up for a lunch break.
Post here or email me for more details or about car pooling, or about what food to bring and where to leave it (location hasn't really been decided yet).
