In the past month there have been 4 people who have been snagged by vines, on both Great Wall and Brown Wave, to come into the shop. If anyone has the gumption and is planning on riding at FATS tomorrow, Thursday, or Friday, please take some pruners with you and snip any vine or overgrowth from trees you see. Thanks.

One thing I never leave home without! Yeah, you have to stop and cut something, but why not? If we all did it, the trails would be so awesome it'd be crazy!

I rode Skinny and Brown Wave Friday afternoon and noticed a lot of trimmings on the ground like someone had recently lopped. Not sure about GW though, didn't ride it.

I'm amazed at those who won't even clip out to kick a spoke breaker off the trail. Some of us don't much mind sticks, vines, nettles, or what-have-you. So while it's cool if you want to get rid of them, don't be amazed when other people just view them as part of the experience.

I'm amazed at those who won't even clip out to kick a spoke breaker off the trail. What amazes me is that 4 people would go into a bike shop and complain about vines so someone else could go back out and trim them. My thoughts: a.) Step up and do something about it (clip/clear it yourself or join/organize a workparty) b.) Deal with it (as wooglin would say "enjoy the experience" ;D ) and move on c.) All of the above

Good to know so many don't care about having a "clean" trail. I will quit wasting my time.

Not taking it as a diss; I am still pretty new to this and the people I've watched and learned from keep a "clean" trail. If people don't care one way or another, then we are wasting our time. My observations from riding are that many, many, riders pass right on by the limbs and debris, so obviosuly don't hold the same outlook. That is what I found "amazing", since I hold those I've learned from in pretty high regard.

The people that I spoke with that came in had been "involuntarily" removed from their bike by these vines. Blood was drawn and dirt samples were obtained.
Just a heads up.

I have bought it at the "dip" on the wave (my own stupidity), and I've had stiches from the wall. I've been snared by briars. I've got poison ivy from the canal. and Modoc. And I kept peddling. And I loved every minute of it. ;D
