I plan to go to the Tower trail, 8am Sunday the 7th, to continue work on the wet spots. About 4 hours is all I can take. Could use a few assistants. Let me know if you need tools. I will park at the gas line on Woodlawn Rd.

Pretty sure that I can assist Sunday morning. Might be able to bring one of the ankle-biters.

I'll be there as long as the Snake doesn't break me on Saturday. I'll have to check and see what tools I have.

Only a short section of Tower to go. From where you left off to where it gets really close together near Woodlawn. As soon as you get to where we started, it will be obvious. I say this because you should plan to hit Tower and then have another place to go work. When you get to the first drain we cleaned, walk straight up the hill to the other part of the trail and turn right. You'll be back to the gas line in no time.
I may work this weekend or I may not. I may have to really work this weekend as tax season is raging.
I'd like to go back to the Big Rock area where we armored 2 weekends ago. 3-4 more spots that could use the rock that is fairly handy nearby. Will need some strong backs to move these rocks. I am not committed yet.....

Suggestions for the next priority? I think I have seen that the north/west side of Deep Step (the side across the road) has been completed. Or maybe that is not true? Does anyone know if the south/east side of Deep Step has been worked on?

What about Brown Wave and Skinny? Seems like all the recent work has been done on Deep Step BR/Tower yet Brown and Skinny are the two most ridden trails.

Some of BW has been cleaned. Not much of Skinny. I'd focus on upper skinny as lower skinny is closed and will be closed until the leaves come back onto the trees.
DK and Paul know as well as anyone what all has been done on BW.
Big Rock has 3-4 more native stone armor jobs. DK - Go in at the timber bridge where we exited two weeks ago. Walk toward the work we did 2 weeks ago. You will see the rock and the muddy spots it needs to go in. I'd also go look at the work we did 2 weeks ago. It is sweet.

I did the drains at the bottom of Brown Wave (marked in yellow on map) a few weeks ago. I was by myself, it was pouring rain, and I only had an adz so I opted for quantity over quality with drain clearing. If the explore the trails ride Saturday is canceled, I'll go back and see if they are still draining well. Regardless, there were a few particularly deep and muddy spots that will require brick and/or stone.

There is a Scout project to install signs at the North Train Head parking Sunday Feb 7 at noon. I will be assisting with this Scout project.
Brown Wave status - A few weeks ago we worked going CCW from near the first rock garden to the dirt road accessing the end of the gravel road (the cul-da-sac). We cleaned drains and installed bricks. There are a few unused bricks along this section. If you are driving down the gravel road, there is an old flag on your right just before you drive up the hill to the cul-da-sac, where you will find 8 brick.

What about Brown Wave and Skinny? Seems like all the recent work has been done on Deep Step BR/Tower yet Brown and Skinny are the two most ridden trails. I think they'll all get done. as of now it seems kinda scattered. By having such a good group both Big Rock and Tower are essentially done. I don't believe the SE side of Deep Step has had much done. Great Wall is horrible before the rake and ride going CCW. I think there is brick at or near some of the locations that need them, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have enough info to compile a list of work needed? Maybe listed in order from armoring to cleaning drains to lopping to complete reroute. Maybe this could help get things done quicker and more efficiently as well as not overlooking or neglecting certain parts.

Brick was placed on the Great Wall before the rack & ride section going CCW. There are also a few bricks place after that section.

The scout project on Sunday has increased in size. It will also include working on Brown Wave. The Scouts will be shaving trees for blaze marks. There will be about 20 people total doing both the signs & shaving the trees.

What time are the scouts starting. I can help later in the day but Sunday morning is church time for me. Is there anybody working in the afternoon?

The scouts will meet at noon on Sunday at the North Trail Head. I will be there to over-see the work. Anyone can come help, but the scouts are to do the work (this is their eagle project).
Great Wall update - There was 3 of us this morning that worked on the bottom of GW. We went into the trail from the dirt road at the end of the gravel road (I think the gravel road is FS662A). There are 2 orange flags on the right side of the dirt road. We went to the trail and went left. We worked to the 2" orange flag, which is accessed from the same dirt road, just on the left side. Work is needed (there are bricks) where the 2 orange flags on the dirt road on the right. When you get to the trail go right.

This morning we had John Pilcher, David Chapman, David Kozlowski, Matthew Kozlowski, and 2 dogs, Vash and Luke. We finished Tower. We then worked on Deep Step, SE side, from the road crossing at the curve up to the "high point" about a mile in. There is one bad section on DS that we left- about 50' long, fairly flat area, already has a short rock section. BV- look at this and see what you think; my guess is either armor the whole thing or commit some machine time to really improve the drainage. In general, I'm sure we'll find points where we think we have fixed by cleaning/enlarging drains, but will need to be armored.

The scouts (26) installed bike warning signs on PhilPot road and a North Trail Head sign. Also started blazing Brown Wave. Started at the upper crossing on the gravel road. Went CCW and stopped before the BW downhill. We shaved the trees and sprayed a small white dot. The last weekend of Feb. is the next scout workparty. They will paint a white blaze and then paint brown inside the white. The blaze will be brown with a white outline.

We got a few drains cleaned on the Great Wall Saturday. It was wet to say the least.

Thanks y'all. I'll be back out there next weekend. I was busy nursing baby and wife. I'm probably gonna still get down into the bottom of Great Wall unless there are more people needed elsewhere.
