There's a peice in the latest COE newsletter on SORBA: ----------------------- Partners in Progress CSRA-SORBA and Thurmond Project By Ranger Pepper Shields
On June 20, 2009, Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) – Southern Off Road Bicycle Association (SORBA), completed one of four bridges for the new 9.6 mile section of the Bartram Trail. CSRA-SORBA is one of Thurmond’s most active Partners providing several hundred volunteer hours of service by working on new sections of Bartram Trail and general up-keep of the older 6.5 miles of the original trail. This past year SORBA refurbished several of the original bridges, some dating back to the early 1980’s on the older sections of the Trail. Thurmond Project would like to recognize and thank all SORBA volunteers for their efforts in maintaining current and future Project trails. Below are pictures of the “Crew” at work on the new section of Bartram Trail.
Participants included: David Chapman, Billy Chapman, Jimmy Culpepper, Mark Yarbrough, Robert Yarbrough, Michael Drawdy, Barbara Drawdy
------------------------- Guess the pics didn't copy and not all of the participants were identified in the captions.

Two trees down near the first bridge (from Petersburg) Both are 4 feet off the ground and will require a chainsaw. Only went as far as the "keg creek" sign. My 7 year old, Paige, had a blast riding the trail.

I rode the loops last night and could not believe the great shape their in. very fast and different from the main trail. Encourage all who have not ridden these to try them out.
Ran into a few sorba riders also. Always nice to run into folks you know.
A big thanks to you Dale.

You are right about the loops BW. YetiChick and I make it a point to ride those every time we go out there. Seems like most riders either don't know about them or ignore'em. Other than the spiders that are ever-present, I enjoy the loops.
The next time you go out there on the loops, hop off the trail and go check out the Lake Springs day-use area. Very nice amenities. That may be where the Bike Fest ends up.
Thanks DP. I cut several trees off the last time we camped there (three or four weeks ago) but didn't do them all. That one large tree on the loops really needed to come out due to the ride-around being created.

Lake Springs is our family choice for days at the lake. Kids love it there. The view from the "tree fort" is awesome. it would be a good location for bikefest.
Last night was the first time I went out on Bartram at sunset. Just beautiful.
