What? Too obscure? That's what would probably have happened at Wine, Turkey and Modoc if folks hadn't gone out there and started riding. And once people started riding other people started riding too. Then more trails were wanted and people got together to make them happen. And today, well, today is today and the CSRA has a ton of trails. Other places have trails like the one in the pictures, built about the same time as Wine, Turkey and Modoc, but now abandoned because no one has stepped up to the plate and made them important. That help?

Wouldn't it have been easier and simply made more sense to say that in the beginning? Because people in the CSRA took an interest in the trails years ago when the mountain bike boom began, these trails are in great condition. I'd be willing to bet that some or most of these trails that are suffering the same fate are not as close to highly populated areas as the ones around here. Regardless, we are lucky to have so many trails in such close proximity to the CSRA. Also, lucky to have a new trail system to take a lot of the traffic off of the original trails.
By the way, where is the trail located in the pix you've posted?

That help? I got here in 1991. And I'd agree. Had mountain bikiers not taken over as the prodominate user group, these trails may have become abandoned. In spite of MTB's rise, Wine Creek and the last two miles of Turkey Creek were well on their way to becoming shuttered in. Especially Wine Creek. Modoc just doesn't quite have the intense vegetation growth as most of Wine Creek and the last two miles of Turkey Creek. My guess is that Modoc would have become the trail most hiked - as it has the least vegetation and would have been the least uncomfortable to be on. I think it is not too unreasonable to think if SORBA CSRA had not been formed, the local trails that one could ride would be Modoc, a very rutted out Horn Creek, The Canal Trail, and 5 miles of Turkey Creek. Keg Creek and Wine Creek would have been taken back by the forest for lack of use. Baker Creek, Hickory Knob, Bartram Trail and FATS would never have been built. Of course the Tower Trail would have been lost to the timber cut that took it out of play years ago.
I did say that. You just didn't like my prose.
Precisely. Please reserve your prose for the Road Cycling sites. Remember, we ride mountain bikes. ;D Keep in mind I'm only giving you a hard time for the fun of it. No harm or disrespect intended. It's hard to convey feelings and sarcasm through cyber space.
