At the FATS grand opening 9/13/2008, I signed up to join IMBA/SORBA but my check has not been deposited and I have not heard anything regarding my membership. Could anyone advise on what happened? Not only am I anxious to make sure I am an IMBA/SORBA member in good standing but it is all the more important with my new professional sortie into multi-use trail planning and design here in Florida and soon into SC. Our company, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. just won a rail-to-trail feasibility planning study for the 26-mile abandoned rail line from Yemasee to Port Royal, SC that I used to walk on and go crabbing on one of the trestles as a kid growing up in Beaufort (had a close call with a train once) and now have the opportunity to work on. KHA is doing paved and/or off-road trail planning and/or design work that I know of at least in FL, SC, NC, NV, TX, CA and VA. Pretty cool stuff! Florida Office of Greenways and Trails just won the first ever given national award as "Best Trails State in America" presented by American Trails 11/17/2008 in Little Rock, Arkansas. See our website at www.FloridaGreenwaysAndTrails.com.

Maybe someone can also answer why the FAT Tire Times is always at least 1 month late? I've been asking for over 10 years and have yet to get a straight answer, if any answer at all.

try just canceling your check and then reapplying for membership online. I did it about a month ago and i received my intoductory package about a week after that. All kinds of junk in there. I've been looking into getting a new car and that package had a piece in there about how subuaru takes a couple grand off of a car for imba members. i never thought i'd ever consider a station wagon until i put too many miles on the olds bravada.

The SORBA membership applications that were completed at the FATS grand opening in September had been lost until last week. I did not know that they were lost until one of the impacted people inquired. I did not have a list of the people, therefore I did not know who to contact.
I contacted main SORBA and they started looking for the lost applications. I discussed this matter with the SORBA Executive Director and he was very embarrassed. The missing applications were found the day after the SORBA Board of Directors meeting. Please accept my apology for main SORBA for losing the membership applications.
Yes, we did learn a lesson from all this and yes, our chapter, when soliciting memberships, will handle all future membership applications.
If anyone ever has a membership issue, please contact me.

FAT Tire Times is always at least 1 month late………I do not have an answer. I too get frustrated with it being late because of the time sensitive activities that are listed.
At the SORBA Board Of Directors meeting, we were told that the Fat Tire Times will only be printed once in 2009. There will be electronic copies and there will be the IMBA / SORBA eNews all during 2009. The reason given for only one hard copy was to reduce cost. Almost $9000 was spent during 2008 for hard copies of the Fat Tire Times.

Thanks for the info Paul. I emailed Robin Allen about this and also suggested an "Electronic Delivery" option when you sign up. This would solve the problem of late delivery and also save mucho $$$ as well as a few trees.

Did you receive a response from Robin Allen? I have emailed her on two issues (no e-news and the lack of a Fat Tire Times) and never heard back. Seems like a one-way street to me. She has plenty of time to post on the "fun" threads of main SORBA. MD

However, this will be the 3rd with no response from the first two. You ever get the feeling you're not "really" needed? They don't even want your money!

Maybe they just want us to drop the SORBA and just be IMBA?
Maybe the word SOUTHERN is not politically correct?

Maybe the word SOUTHERN is not politically correct? Maybe you, sir, are not politically correct. How dare you make such a statement. On a more tolerant note, when might we see you again?
