If we can gather enough volunteers we plan to do the annual Wine/Turkey Mow-a-Thon on Saturday May 31st. Please volunteer if you can before it gets too hot and we lose volunteers to vacation plans! If we don't have enough folks step up we will delay the Mow-a-Thon until we can get the required number of volunteers and a free weekend! Even if you only have a couple of hours to spare we can use you!

We only have 8 people signed up for the Wine/Turkey Mow-a-Thon, we need more people in order to have an effective work party. If you know of people who do not typically read the forum that might can help have them contact me. If we end up canceling the work party due to lack of participation we do not have another date in view to reschedule to at this point. HELP!!! dan-angelaallen@comcast.net

We are finally up to 10 volunteers for the Mow-a-Thon so we should be able to do the chainsaw work on both Wine Creek and Turkey Creek and then mow Turkey Creek if all the volunteers make it to the work party. However there are not enough volunteers to also mow Wine Creek so that portion will remain undone and hopefully can be scheduled at a later date. I will send out one final broadcast today in search of additional volunteers and then we will set the workparty schedule. Thank you to those who stepped up to help - we'll be in touch regarding worktimes and meeting places shortly.

We have 14 volunteers signed up and assigned work for the Turkey-Wine Creek Mowathon on Saturday. That should enable us to get the majority - if not all - of Wine Creek and Turkey Creek taken care of. If we do have any additional volunteers please contact me so we can plan for additional work crews! Thank you, Angela

We did not round up enough volunteers to complete all of Wine and Turkey Creek trail. All the trees have been removed off both trails but: Wine: the 2.5 miles from the gully to 283 on Wine remain to be mowed/clipped - a bit of lopping still needs to be done just before the gully on the Key Bridge side but that is relatively minor and doesn't render the trail unrideable- but I can tell you personally that the unmowed portion of Wine Creek is very dense in some areas and is a provebial tick wonderland (I personally removed about 20 of them from the undergrowth so if you venture in, spray yourself well)! Turkey: from the 1 mile cul de sac to the 3.65 mile take out on Turkey Creek still needs to be mowed/clipped as well. Hopefully a workparty can be set up in June to complete this work. Thanks to the folks who came out to lend a hand. Jon Taylor won the drawing for the Thompson Seatpost certificate after the workparty!
