So after that incredible night ride I need to buy my own set of lights. Does anyone remember which models some of those HID lights were? If not, anyone know of a good, somewhat cheaper HID set? I'd love to get the flamethrower but I'd have to wait a bit to afford that thing. I want some lights asap so I can get on those trails soon... thanks in advance.

I have the L&M ARC and really like it. There are no cable connections to worry about like on the Niterider systems. You'll find there is no appreciable difference in the high and low beam settings. Just put it on high and keep pedalling. Also, I think most of the HID systems are about the same from a light and battery life standpoint. HID lights do weigh a little more than regular lights so your helmet may move around a little more.
