One very large tree down down at about 2.5 miles in. A couple of small trees down as well. But overall trail in good shape. The streams all had water in them.

Modoc is in good shape. It looks as if something has gone in and fluffed up the leaves/pinestraw on the trail (turkeys maybe?) which can slow you down, but no big deal. Removed 4-5 small trees that were in the way with a hand saw, but there are 3 trees down that need a chainsaw. The same BIG one that Ted S. mentioned at mile 2.5, and one located around mile 3.5, and another around mile 4.5.

JP and I cut the big tree at 2.5 today; never saw so much poison ivy in my life. Somebody moved the tree at 3.5 (thanks). Everything left Banks rode on Thursday.

I just got a flood warning for Stevens Creek, currently 21.9ft (19ft flood stage) I would also add Turkey and Wine would best be avoided along with Modoc.

We rode Modoc (out) this morning and took the FS roads back to Hwy23 and the parking lot.
Modoc needs a lot of chainsaw TLC. Some riders, but lots of non-riders and treetops all along the length of the trail.
Remember that you need to be USFS certified to chainsaw these trees.
Thank you for your support.

Pilcher and I spent the day cutting Modoc. The trail is rideable from the highway to the forest service road back entrance. It has been a while since I have been out there. Someone has cut some of the favorite riders, but more will fall.... It could use a DR in places but being the end of the growing season, we will wait to see what happens. The 4 mile bridge has been moved but is level; there is a big hop to get on from the front side.

Two non-riders between 1 and 1.5. First one about 20" in diameter the second one goes over the trail twice. One part is the tp of the tree, the second the base which is a few feet off the ground and 2 feet in diameter. If riding, when yu get to it, head right, down the gully and up. Rest of the trail is good just need wheels.

It's not just another tree down on Modoc, it's the "Lovers Beech". The top is a great big mess in the trail.
