I'd say you are dreaming if you think that will ever happen anywhere in the states. The nutty Europeans....riding bikes and everyone has access to health care at half the cost per capita. We don't need stupid ideas like that over here. Seriously, that video was awesome.

Yeah seenvic, crazy ideas, huh? Imagine saving money and improving your health!

I'm all for it. Now if we can just get Americans to also embrace the European tolerance for B.O.

LOL, yeah, you're right on that one tzeaser...it's either B.O. or too much cologne. Oh, about the B.O., I hope you're not referring to us and/or the way our Toyota smells inside!
Hey Dustin, fair warning, you're gonna get hooked and be riding every day year round. Trust me on this. You'll start noticing that the days you ride in you're in a better mood and more productive... then it's all over. Nice bike by the way.

Oh and Dustin, one more thing, who cares if your clothes are wrinkled?! Keep a bottle of Downy wrinkle releaser in your desk and you're all set.

I started a new job a few weeks ago and one of the perks is being able to bike commute. It's awesome. 10 mile 35 min ride in the morning, 12-14 mile 45-60 min ride in the evening using the Palmetto Parkway bike path and/or the Greeneway. Showers at work so I don't stink. I'll take a few changes of clothes to leave on day I drive in, then I have to carry less when riding and my clothes aren't wrinkled up. The goal is to ride at least two days a week. Has anyone put together a loop that includes Palmetto and Greeneway without being exposed to a lot of traffic?

Here is a ride I do quite a bit, not a ton of traffic, the easiest way to connect the two that I can find connect.garmin.com/activity/200410654

I take a slightly different route between the greeneway and PP. I take buena vista till it ends, stay left at the fork, go straight across martintown rd, left onto Carolina springs rd, right onto carolina springs spur. Get you to the same place but you don't have to ride martintown, just cross it.

Last month I commuted 8 days. That's 179 miles and 11.5hrs of saddle time, saddle time I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.
I saved 145 miles of my car, and saved $17.20 on gas.
Problem is, I also crashed one day and had to get the derailleur hanger realigned ($20), new bar tape ($18), and some first aid stuff (I forget what I paid for it all). So I'm still in the red. LOL

Cheaper than crashing your car, though.

Sorry to hear you crashed but seenvic is right, it's still cheaper than crashing your car. Nevin and I get 15 miles round trip 5 days a week year round. I really think the 75 miles a week in the saddle keeps our base strong and of course we save lots of money. Takes the pressure off of having to exercise in the evenings if we'd rather be home drinking beer.

Does the PP cross I-20? In a couple of weeks I'll need to ride from the Edgefield Road/Sweetwater Road intersection into downtown N. Augusta.
Is that the Greenway up there by Bergen Road in Pat656's gps track?

Is that the Greenway up there by Bergen Road in Pat656's gps track? PP ends at Ascuaga Lake Rd, it does not reach I20. If you go to Google Maps and turn on the bicycling layer you can see both the Greeneway and the PP. Click HERE.

Thanks. Looks like Walnut-->5 Notch-->Bergen-->Greenway is my best bet.

I would try to avoid 5 Notch if you can. It is a pretty dangerous road most people speed on. I rode Sunday and went close to there, started in downtown. Take a look at this: app.strava.com/rides/15309693

Take a look at this: app.strava.com/rides/15309693That's a lot of turns and I'll be pretty tired. The alternative is Edgefield Rd to PP. And I KNOW Edgefield isn't going to be very bike friendly.
