Hello everyone. I am form Long Island and will be relocating to Bluffton, SC in six months and am looking for a club/team to ride with. I race XC,CX, and road. I currently ride on a team out of Central Park. I would really appreciate any advice on what trails to ride, and local race series, or clubs in the area.
Thanks for your time.

They'll be no Yankeedom 'round these parts!!! Just kidding. As far as clubs and shops go in and around Bluffton; Beaufort SC, Charleston SC or Savannah GA are your best bets. There are shops in all towns as well as Hilton Head Island. They can provide you with any info regarding road rides/races as well as what off-road riding is around their area. If elevation gain is desired, head towards Augusta GA or Macon GA, then into a local shop for information regarding the trails and road rides around the area. After Augusta or Macon head towards Western NC or North GA for more significant mountain biking. You can also access Augusta trail information on this site as well.

Thanks for the info. I know there is some great riding in nc. I've been to Tsali and the surounding area dozen times or so. I'll try contacting some shops in the area. Anyone else with more info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again from this yankee with no where to ride.

There is a SORBA Chapter in Charleston and I know several of the guys down there race (I'm sure they will have a team at the 24 hours of Adrenalin held at Conyers, GA in October). You might want to contact them..........I've never ridden it but in one of the latest mountain biking magazines Killer Three was listed as the best trail in South Carolina and it is located between Charleston and Columbia (mtbreview.com should have directions)...........here is the link for the Charleston SORBA chapter:

Bluffton. Ouch. Killer3 is up here on the other side of Columbia and will be at least a 3 hour drive. You might do better shooting up the Savannah River to McCormick County, but even that's gonna be a long haul and there's really no direct route. Frankly I think being down there on the coast you're SOL for trail riding, but maybe there's something in GA I don't know about. I don't hear too much about good road riding there either, and there's no such thing as a cx series in SC that I've ever heard of. I'd like to be more supportive, but I think you're screwed. What in the world are you going to be doing in Bluffton?

Got this from a co-worker who used to live in the area:
"Jonathon's Bike Shop in Bluffton is the only decent shop and it's a little scarce, but they'll order items for you. As far as riding, there's nothing. A MINOR trail on Hunting Island, in Beaufort, and it's not really anything to scoff about if you consider sand technical. Otherwise, it's flat. Also, there is a road team based in Beaufort.....Lowcountry Bicycles. Lowcountry is the best bike shop in the area and they have the most knowledgeable staff.....carry the Trek/Specialized/Fisher line mostly"
