I'm upgrading my drivetrain from a 3x8 mixed SRAM/Shimano system to the Shimano SLX 3x10 system. So far my research has answered all questions, except this: will my current freehub (now running a 8 speed cassette) support a 10 cassette?
Shimano itself has been no help whatsoever, and Google has had mixed results.
If the current hub (Shimano M475) is not compatible, do I need to get the wheel relaced with a whole new hub, or can I just replace the freehub body with one that is compatible with a 10 speed cassette?

The free hub will work fine. The 8sp/9sp/10sp difference comes from the width of the chain and the spacing of the cogs. The main things you will be concerned with are the derailleur alignment and adjustment. They will be a lot more critical with an 8sp vs. 10sp setup.
Not a deal breaker though! Enjoy the new drivetrain.

thanks MD, that's what I thought, just couldn't find the literature to back it up. Very disappointed with Shimano's tech help as well....
