Hi, this is my first post to the forums, but I figured I would give it a try. I live in Aiken county SC and love to ride FATS pretty much every week for the last few months. I am new to mountain biking and I love it!! Anyways, I may have to take a trip to NC next weekend, I will be traveling up I77 thru Charlotte then up 85 to Exit 68 to a little town called Gold Hill. I am just dropping off something then I will be on my way. So in order to make the drive worth it I would like to hit up some trails nearby or maybe some that are along my route. I was checking out the Anne Springs Close Greenway and a couple others. Any advice as to which trails i should check out while I am there would be greatly appreciated. I'd even be willing to go an extra few miles if there are some "must ride" trails close enough. Let me know what you think, thanks!!

I think there's a decent size MTB scene in Charlotte, some google work might help you find their club website/forum. Looking for trails, Singletracks is a good start.

I rode a couple of the trails in Charlotte last year. I rode the Sherman Branch which is a lot of trail in a small area with a few man made features. I also rode the ASNWC/Catawba. There was a $5.00 fee to get in but, I thought it was worth it. Plus if you get tired of riding you can rent a kayak and do some white water. I heard the Lake Norman trail was worth the ride to get there if you have time. I think it is 20-30 mile north of Charlotte.

Thanks guys, I have been all over singletracks.com looking at trails and such, But it turns out that I will not be going up there after all. But I am still wanting to take a trip somewhere, preferably somewhere with camping, maybe even cabins, then i can bring the whole family.
