The beautiful Fall weather means a lot more people out riding the trails just another reminder FATS will be closed from October 11 through October 25 to all trail users except hunters. It will be open on Sundays - the 16th and the 23rd of October (no hunting allowed on public lands on Sunday's in South Carolina).
If you have planned a trip to our area duirng that time, there are over 100 miles of other trails that won't be closed (bring your hunter orange vests though - we've had no incidents and want to keep it that way) - and you can still enjoy FATS on those Sundays.

Is there a local trail running forum? If so this news should be shared with it.

Not sure but it is posted at the trailhead and I have passed the information on to the race director for the 50K ultra race on Sunday so hopefully the word will get out!

Sign at TH says Oct 11-24, which covers 2 weeks. Oct 11-25 is 15 days.
I'd say change the site to 11-24.

I changed it! I called up to the USFS office to confirm before I posted and she kept insisting it was the 25th so I didn't want to post it wrong (and wasn't able to check the note out at the trailhead at that time).

Bartram. Keg Creek and Hickory Knob are also in great shape. Pine straw is getting thick/slick in spots. Go explore and ride these trails if you have not already.
