Was great riding with cooler temperatures and without the threat of afternoon showers for the last couple of days, looks like one more night of slightly cooler temps and no afternoon thundershowers before the drama returns (by 7 the trails are pretty much empty and it's definitely cooler).

We tend to take our gear with us this time of the year because we never know if we'll be able to ride or not since the weather is so fickle this time of year.
Lot's of heat advisories today but we noticed that weather.com was showing the temperature was going to drop from 96 at 6pm to 90 at 7pm (didn't actually believe it). In addition the pop-ups were developing. Took a chance and headed to the trailhead. Great ride, it had dropped to 90 by 7pm (and cooler in the woods) and a nice breeze.
Was surprised by how busy the parking lot has been for the past three days. By our normal ride time during the week people are generally off the trail and the parking lot is nearly empty!

We were on the Great Wall by 5:30 p.m. last night. Great ride. One thing I love about the southeast is that you can still ride when it is hot. Love riding under the tree canopy.
Met three guys from Florida who had completed three loops, and were asking about Tower and Big Rock. MD told them how to get to the north parking lot as they didn't want to include Deep Step and the connector. They are on their way through to North Carolina for the Mt. Mitchell ride.
