Im pretty sure our city could have put 1.2 million dollars to better use than adding a few feet to the towpath trail though -

What is the difference, its government grant money (it comes from taxes in one way or another)
Can we not spend a Million dollars on a dirt path that is allready 1500 miles long. How about, maybe fix some roads or potholes or bridges.

recently I read an article that stated for every dollar spent on trail, $4 are saved on medical bills.

recently I read an article that stated for every dollar spent on trail, $4 are saved on medical bills. I don't know if that is hyperbole or not, but it sure makes sense that the more we do to encourage physical activity, the healthier the public will be.
