Last Sunday, I rode the Cream Puff Connector and was quite hungry afterwards. I hadn't been to the Chicago food place in a while, so I headed into Evans to eat a gyro at Dino Chicago Style (and they've changed the name to Papa and Sons Chicago Style...).
So as I am parking, I notice on the other side of the shopping center is Taj of India. I drive over there and they are OPEN with a Sunday Buffet, which means I can be eating in less than two minutes.
Best call of the day. Several veggie dishes, several chicken dishes, wonderful curry and under $10. I plan to go back.
Any advice for a hungry rider heading back into town post ride?

After the AJBW Weds night canal ride a few folks usually go to Teresa's in North Augusta. Mexican really hits the spot after a ride. Moes is another good choice.
I went to Waffle House one night after a cold weather ride, and man, it was perfect.

depending on where Im coming from depends on what I eat but I always try to get some type of meat (obviously). Mexican food, chicken wings, bbq, or japanese are usually what I crave.
Taco bell usually works for me bc i hit the carb coma as well as protein.......well, make believe protein.

I do what Brian does most of the time simply because I live in BFE and there isn't anywhere to eat "on the way home". Hence the part I said I drove on into Evans....
Mexican place in Clarks Hill...La Cantina? Not Mexican. Fine dining menu/prices in a uber casual setting. Good food, poor service (they hire locals, which is commendable, but Clarks Hill local and fine dining service don't go hand in hand). I'd recommend eating outside by the huge jass outdoor grill he cooks on. Maybe not in the summer...
Chef/owner is an eccentric dude who likes to put on a talent show while you eat. If he gets out the ventriloquist doll...it is brutal. If he gets out the classical guitar...it is awesome.
I had steaks there and lamb there. Both excellent. I'd recommend it, but it isn't Mexican. And I think they don't take credit cards or used to not take them when I've gone.

Mexican is the best (Monterrey is my mexican of choice) followed closely by BBQ. I spent a few years in high school & college working at Mot's, and it's a great place to stop for quick q.

If I'm coming back on Washington Road, Shane's BBQ hits the spot really well. Moe's, Five Guys and Thai Jong are great too.

What if I'm not headed to town I am planning a trip to ride FATS, as well as other area trails and will be staying closer to Thurmond lake. I'm not exactly sure where at this stage, but are there any Diners, Drive-ins, or Dives that are not in town? I don't want to have to eat camp-style food all the time!

I haven't eaten at either of these but heard it's good: Sportsmans Corner is near FATS, I believe they have BBQ. When you leave FATS turn right out of the parking lot. When you get to the stop sign, Sportsmans Corner is on your left. At that stop sign, turn right onto Martintown Rd and in a few miles there will be a pizza place on your left (just missed it if you reach I-20) Also, on the GA side near Petersburg Campground there's a seafood place and a chicken place that are supposedly good (I can vouch for the chicken place, I have had it). Both near the corner of HWY-221 and Washington Rd. If you're camping at Petersburg when you leave the campground turn right onto the main road, both places will be on your left at the stop sign. And 'town' isn't far from FATS or Petersburg, if you don't want fried chicken/seafood/bbq. Tons of options in the martinez/evans area.

The seafood place at Pollard's Corner is called Angie's. Decent seafood at a normal seafood price. Really good crawfish! The chicken place is called Maryland Fried Chicken, and they have really good fried chicken, great sides and outstanding fried gizzards ;D. Like DG said, tons of places are straight up Washington Rd in Evans, maybe 15 minutes away. MD

Maryland Fried Chicken at Pollard's Corner is good southern fried food and southern sides. I've knocked it back after big rides over there and would again. Falls Cafe on 28, SC side. I've eaten here on the way to and from a ride. Good breakfast sandwich made as you wait. Good burgers/fries. Not had much there, really. This is the place with the little restaurant and small motel. Sportsman BBQ is good. Don't eat there alot, but have. Prefer Mots, but that is in town. I've eaten pre-ride breakfast in the Pollard's Corner Store. It was good and cheap. I think I got a sandwich of some kind. I'd recommend it for cheap eats, quick. McCormick: I've eaten at both Pizza places post ride in McCormick. I like the NY Pizza place slightly better than Michelles but I'd go back to both.

+1 on Michelle's Pizza in McCormick. I just knocked back a calzone about 10 minutes ago. I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon trying to stay awake. They have moved locations to the downtown area, across from the courthouse.
