It is a 1000 times more likely that you will die in a car accident driving to FATS than it will be to get shot off your bike by a turkey hunter at FATS. I believe that turkey seasons ends May 1st though... The only thing that worries me at FATS are the huge-as* rattle snakes!

Nitro,
TedS is wanting one of those rattlers for a belt to go with his SCC belt buckle. Can you pick one up next time you see one.
Thanks,
MH

The top part of this applies to your chances of getting killed by a rattlesnake as well. Car crash fatality or death by lightning would be much more likely than being killed by a rattlesnake. Most people are bit trying to kill or harass a venomous snake - they prefer to stay away from us but will defend if they feel the need!

Turkey season here in Ga, goes through March, I'm not sure how different it is across the river. Turkeys are generally taken within 30-40 yards, a distance too close for you to be mistaken for one. And turkeys walk through the forest, they don't haul ass on a big piece of steel, so the likely hood of anyone mistaking you for a turkey is very unlikely. At the odd chance you did get shot, it would be like getting hit with a bunch of small bb's.

Thanks, MH I'm pretty sure you get a a few stamps on your Man Card for having a 3x34 SCGTT belt buckle with a snake skin belt that you harvested yourself. Especially if you use a multitool to do it ;D

I believe in the past the Forest Service asked people not to use the trails before 10am during hunting season.

I believe in the past the Forest Service asked people not to use the trails before 10am during hunting season. Most turkey hunting is done in the early morning when the birds are flying down from their roosts, so riding later in the AM is a good idea. Even if you ride early, turkey hunting involves calling to bring the animal very close to the hunter. So as long as you stay on your bike and don't strut up to a hunter with your tail feathers fanned out making gobbling sounds, you should be fine. In SC, safety orange isn't required for turkey hunting because the range to ID the animals is so close, and the firearms have a considerably shorter range than those used for deer hunting. There's also a lot less turkey hunters in the woods than deer hunters.

In Georgia the turkey season is from March 26th-May 15th. In South Carolina the season is from April 1st-May 1st.
