Does anyone have any pictures taken at the original Long Cane Massacre Ride? I think this was in 1999?
Thanks.

Ha, yeah.. I've ridden by that place several times. Theres also another cemetary plot maybe 200 yds from the coul-de-sac on the long cane trail that isn't marked or designated in any way. Its right off of one of those unmapped forestry service roads. Oldest one that could still be read was pre 1900

I'll do some digging and see if I can come up with some pics. If they were ever posted on the website, then I should have them stashed somewhere deep within my hard drive. I still have the old Carolina Mountain Biking site that I did archived, surely I have pics of the massacre ride. I'll let ya know, here and/or via email. www.southernfriedgator.com/pics/LCMR_1999.png- Doug

If I remember correctly, the trail was rerouted around it to keep it from being disturbed. May be a different one than I'm thinking about. I don't think that the headstones in the old Long Cane Cemetery are legible.

Does anyone have any pictures taken at the original Long Cane Massacre Ride? I think this was in 1999? Thanks. OK, I found one pic. It was in the old CMTB archives. I think that the sorba-csra website was in its infancy back then and was actually part of that site at the time. I believe it was after the LCMR that we decided that the sorba-csra site needed it's own independent hosting. One thing that I was doing when I had the CMTB site was sharing resources with a site called ClubMTB, remember that one? I think that's what the "Aftermath" reference was about. I think it was a link to the ClubMTB site and that's where the comments and pictures were at. That wasn't my site, so when it disappeared, so did all of my pics and info that I had posted there. Anyway, here's the one pic that I was able to dig up. I'll keep digging, but I think all of the other pics that I had disappeared with ClubMTB.

Well, believe it or not, ClubMTB is still online. Or back online, however you look at it. I was able to retrieve my account ifo, but it's asking me to pay past due subscription fees when I log in. Also, when I click on any links for pictures or anything it will allow me to access, my virus/malware scanner goes nuts and blocks whatever it's trying to allow be to access. Back in the day, that site was free. I don't trust it at all to be the same site. Especially since they are asking for a minimum of 25 bucks to access the site, and then the way my virus protection is going off. Seems like a scam, ripoff, virus nest site to me. Please, don't anyone visit that site.

The one I was talking about is near the train tressel. The trail runs on the opposite side of the road. I found it on a soggy day while riding the pavel.

Doug - is that a Girvin Fork, with the coil spring.
I took my Proflex 756 w/elastemers out today. She still works ok. waiting for Cannondale to be repaired. Do you still have that bike?

That wasn't my bike, just a pic of one of the bikes from the ride. If I recall, it was a Proflex, so you are most likely spot on with your observation. Maybe Bill will chime back in, he may remember who's bike it was/is.

The one I know of is at the top of the hill above where the trail splits to go to the rock and metal bridge. It's well off the trail now, so you pretty much have to know where it's at to find it. It's well grown over and the headstones look more like normal rocks, only arranged in neat orderly lines. I think that this may be it: www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=155317I'll have to check the coordinates against what's in my GPS.

When I saw the pic for the first time, I thought that was Milo's old bike. I may be wrong.

My Girvin Fork has bent linkage and really doesn't work that well. Was hoping to find some one who still had one and might consider parting with it.
Interesting Event .... Sounds like a fun 2 days.
