Just an update - during the reconnaissance ride on Saturday (Jan 22nd) to mark all the places that need attention in order to maximize work party efforts on Sunday 137 dips/drains were marked that needed to be worked....efforts were concentrated to the top of Skinny and Brown Wage for Sunday's work party.
Top of Skinny (connector) - drains/dips cleared and repairs complete on majority of this section of the trail
Brown Wave - drains/dips cleared and repairs complete
Lower Skinny - about 1/4 or slightly more complete, another work party is in the works - still a lot of work to be done on this portion of the trail.
Great Wall - have not marked nor worked this trail yet but Bill V was out there doing some work today!
Deep Step - Another trail work party was conducted on Sunday morning not sure how far they were able to get.
Big Rock/Tower - Do not know condition at this point.
Would be great if folks could avoid riding the Skinny until the remainder of the work is complete.

Between what I've done over the past few weeks and what we completed yesterday, Deep Step is 2/3 +/- of the way complete as far as clearing drains goes. We should be able to get the rest of them cleared during the next session in a week or two. I've identified at least 5 spots that either need to be armored or re-armored. Big Rock and Tower are in great shape with only 3 or 4 sections that need drains cleared and a few spots that will need a brick or two put in. There are also a number of standing dead pine trees (widow makers) on Big Rock that need to be removed soon. I'll probably get Big Rock and Tower completed by myself in the next 2-3 weeks, during the week, and will have 1-2 more group sessions on Deep Step during February. Todd

Great Wall - have not marked nor worked this trail yet but Bill V was out there doing some work today! I rode GW and Skinny on Saturday. One could make the case to close all or most of lower Skinny until.....If we could figure 8 the loop in this spot that is perfect for that, Skinny could become a figure 8 and give us the ability to close the worst of it and leave the rest open. I'll take that up with the USFS. Great Wall. Since I got there late and had my kids with me, I parked along the GW at the spot towards the end of the road where it is easy to get onto the trail. There is a pretty good pile of bricks where I went in. We walked/worked CW on the loop. I cleaned a few drains and re-armored some spots that were muddy. The muddy spot was the ride around skirting the original armor. I fixed 2-3 or three of these spots and by that time my kids had had enough and were bored. We were out for about 90 minutes. There is plenty more to do in this area of the GW. I was working above the bridge and there is more work to be done above and below the bridge. Thanks to all who worked. Great day.

If anybody is going out for an informal workparty, let me know. While I'm new to the maintenance stuff, I'd like to learn more about the maintenance/upkeep side of mountain biking and can be an extra set of hands if nothing else I only work every 3rd day on my first job and only sporadically on my second job, so chances are (especially with a day or two notice) I can help out if wanted/needed. Let me know.
