Buy a piece of FATS history!
We are thinking about selling our house near FATS.
4 bedrooms. 3.5 baths. About 2640 square feet. Dining room, large deck with hot tub. 700 sq ft master bed/bath with the best tile shower you have ever seen outside of Lives of the Rich and Famous. Under the master is a heated/cooled dog room with a dog door in/out.
Nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away.
1 bedroom guest house. "The Sugar Shack" is where the trailbuilders who built FATS lived while building it. Has a full bath and kitchenette. This is the "piece of FATS history".
Large detached garage. Was a pole shed when we purchased the property and we have enclosed it and put a garage door on it. This is a great garage or equipment storage space. Long Cane Trails used it to store the trail building equipment and now we use it as a garage.
10 acres total. About an acre of "yard" and 9 acres of trees.
2.5 mile ride to FATS. 1.5 miles on gravel roads and 1 mile on Woodlawn.
1 mile to either Savannah River or Stevens Creek if fishing or paddling appeals to you.
We would love to sell it to another mountain biker and just do the deal ourselves. House is not listed and won't be anytime soon.
Contact me here or my cell (803) 6 four 5 - four five two 0.

do you have any pics of the house, or a desired price. I live in Augusta now but am looking to move in the Spring to the country where I can run, ride, paddle, and play with the dogs more. Your place sounds perfect.

Wow Bill. Great video!! Did you create the it? The house looks like you have done tons of remodeling since the last time I saw it. Wish I could afford it because I dream of someday having a home with that kind of seclusion and a bit of acreage. Wanna trade homes? You can have my place in Martinez and I'll take yours. Your place would make a cool bed and breakfast catering to mountain bikers and folks who dig outdoors. Best of luck with the sale brother.

Realtor made the video. I had hoped a local rider would buy it, but that didn't work. Hired a realtor and it has been shown 28 times since Dec 4. But no deal yet.
I'd be happy to stay in it. Liz wants to move and for sound reasons I think we should too. Life will be easier in North Augusta.
Thanks. Hope to see you on the trail soon.

We signed a contract on the house 2 days ago. Close mid July.
Think we have found the house in NA we want to buy.
It was shown over 60 times. Surprisingly, only one person ever asked about FATS when looking at the house. Whereas, there were a dozen or more folks looking who asked about hunting nearby.
Makes me think that is where we are in terms of how many of us ride vs. how many hunt.
I sell this house with a bit of sadness. I hope I don't regret it. It is a wonderful house and a great place to live.
I'd highly recommend Shannon Rollins as a realtor.

Sale fell through.
149 Chota back on market.
Plans to move to NA postponed until sale.
Not happy, but not the worst news I got today.

Unfortunately sometimes the loosy goosy mortgage market before the bust has in some cases been replaced by a rigidly stringent market now and sometimes harder for folks to qualify (of course add to it the number of people that did have some dings during the meltdown and there will probably be quite a few renters for the next few years as things get sorted out). A friend in California ended up with 2 that fell through before the 3rd finally took. She is thrilled, happy and all of that is behind her now! Fingers crossed that all will happen the way you'd like it to going forward.
