Boy do I miss J. Liebe! There has been an absense of information flowing from the chapter as well as SORBA in general since he left. There has been no chapter news since March posted and no newsletter since April either via email or on the forum. No mention of upcoming meetings in the proper section of the forum regarding upcoming meetings (other than Dustin making it a point in the general discussion section) and I haven't gotten any SORBA newsletters from the headquarters in Atlanta since before the summit. What can be done? Since John left and the summit is over info has ceased to be. Kinda like when after FATS was constructed trail worked ceased for quite a while. Just curious when Dustin will take over. My reason for all this is I can never make the meetings and am out of the loop for happenings and goings ons. I'm sure that there is plenty being talked about at meetings and can't believe that everyone sits upstairs and has no SORBA news to talk about. On my end it seems that the Summit has created a void in info for the rest of us. Thanks, Founding SORBA-CSRA member #132831 NMBP Ambassador KARMA 10 as of this posting. ;D

Get in touch with Angela, she's sent out a few newsletters via e-mail since the summit. There was one last week I think, with info about the work party.

I'd rather the SORBA officers get in touch with me as well as the rest of those who don't/can't attend the meetings. Isn't that what they do?

My point is - she's trying. She's sending e-mails with info, you're just not getting them. So let her know you're not getting them, and she'll fix it.
A meeting summary would be nice.
Here's one for this week: -Aug 7 - Explore the Trails Ride - Modoc (the homepage said it was on the 8th btw...which one is it?) -Sept 25 - Sumter Metric Century - we need people to help run the event -Sept 26 - Ironman - SORBA-CSRA will be volunteering at an aid station along the bike route -This winter we'll be purchasing a new DR mower -We're also going to purchase another gas powered hedger soon -Membership is in the 120-150 range -We've got somewhere north of $8,000 in the bank, some of which is earmarked for special projects -What am I forgetting?

I do miss John Liebe, though. Good point.
Didn't you change your email recently? Did you tell Angela that for her distribution list?

Email has been the same for 3 years. This is probably the 4th time this has happened regarding both SORBA CSRA and big brother SORBA. Also, when and if I do get Fat Tire Times, they are for the month late. Also, what's to explain the lack of forum updates and participation of the SORBA CSRA officers in the forum?

They don't want to, I suppose. They are volunteers. Not obligated to do anything they don't want to do.

I think our officers do a good job.
But that said, we elect new officers every year. This is Paul's last year as President. Anyone interested in taking the reins next year?

I think our officers do a good job. As do I. Without the officers and others FATS wouldn't have happened and the summit certainly would not have happened. But the topic of this subject is about communicating information to the masses, not whether or not the officers do a good job or not. I'm simply trying to increase the opportunity to obtain information for those who can't attend and help spread the word about what's going on. So far the communication has ceased for the most part. I may not be present at the events, but that doesn't mean that I don't help promote the sport and club in our area. I do, after all, work in a bicycle shop where I see lots of people. When they ask me a question I don't have the answer to, I try to point them in the direction of the forum. Without information being supplied in the arena provided, how are current and potential members supposed to know what's going on. I'm just trying to do what I can to help out and I believe communication is the key to having a successful organization.

I've done that in the past and still, somehow, it continues. There has to be some explanation. Why don't we just drop it for now until we can get an explanation from someone other than the two of you? Preferably one of two "officers". Once again, this subject is about information on the website and not me or the officers.

I am on the list for the CSRA, however I haven't received an electronic Fat Tire Times since 7/11/09. I still get alot of news alerts from IMBA, just not mother SORBA. Anyone get their FTT lately?

I don't think the Fat Tire Times gets e-mailed anymore, it's an online mag. www.fattiretimes.com/ Mother SORBA e-mails, I think, now come from IMBA, we get a SORBA area info. Search your e-mail for Singletrack eNews. Last one I got was Jun 17th.

Thanks for the updates Paul. It really helps to see the upcoming events and to be able to help plan, in advance, some things I may can help out with. I've got my eye on the skills clinic and can also do a trailside repair one as well. There's also a cool function on the message board that might prove useful as well as easier to keep up with upcoming events besides birthdays. sorbacsra.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=calendar

I try to pull in the SORBA-CSRA listing from SORBA-IMBA to pick up any new members and their email addresses at least every other month in order to welcome new members to SORBA-CSRA. Also reconcile my list to their list as often as I can to ensure we have picked up all new members. I try to send a newsletter out monthly also (I have missed a month or two due to the time constraints of my work schedule) I am happy to be a SORBA-CSRA volunteer but like many others I have a for pay job that I work as well . Recently there have been chapter newsletters sent out to SORBA-CSRA members for both June and July and I routinely send out reminders about the meetings, upcoming workparties (if requested by the workparty leader), and other notable events coming up bearing in mind that I don't want to load people's inboxes with too many emails. The newsletter is intended for SORBA-CSRA members and I happily add the email addresses for potential members when requested. I'm happy to have them posted on the forum for non-members to read as well but that can be done by any of the folks who have access to website posting - again it is intended primarily for members and is sent to them. I am concerned if you are not getting your information because you are not on my list or the SORBA-CSRA list downloaded from IMBA. If you will give me some additional information I'll be happy to track down your membership and get you added to the email list. Any other SORBA-CSRA members out there that did not receive the June and July newsletter whether it is because your email address has changed or for any other reason, please feel free to email me at sorba.csra@gmail.com and I'll be happy to get you on the list immediately!

Ted - Did a little quick research and see that before I transitioned the SORBA-CRSA email group over to a gmail account (comcast would not allow me to send emails to a group of 150 members so I had to break the membership into chunks which made it difficult to deal with) I have you under a different email address. I see you on a newsletter sent at the end of 2008. Shortly after that I had someone help transition the email list from Comcast to GMail using the SORBA-CSRA list from corporate HQ as the guideline because I knew I had a lot of folks on the list that were no longer members so it was a good time to clean it up. I don't see you on the SORBA-CSRA list so I think that might be when you were lost. Any time something like this comes up, please feel free to contact me. You have access to my email address and with over a hundred members to keep up with any help making sure we are getting the message out (by sending me information if you are not receiving the newsletter or updates if your email address changes is greatly appreciated). I have sent an inquiry with your member number to IMBA so they can tell me where you are located in their database. The hard copy of the Fat Tire Times has been replaced by a monthly IMBA-SORBA Singletrack eNewsletter. I'm concerned that if you are not receiving that one either that you are lost somewhere in that database and we need to send out a search party ASAP! Angela

Ted - I did find you on the sorba.csra@gmail.org list but it is under the old email address - if you sent your new one it must have slipped past me and I didn't pick it up. I have added you in now with your new email address so you should receive updates along with the other SORBA-CSRA members from now on!
