Dirt Divas returning to FATS July 10th

Hello again!

The Dirt Divas from Charlotte will be making a return trip to FATS on Sat. July 10th. We hope to begin riding by 10am.

We usually have a nice size group of both men and women with varying skill levels.

If anyone would like to ride with us and show us the trails we would welcome you with open arms. I would really appreciate someone who could show our beginner group around the trails. They will probably only do two of the loops at the most and they are a fun group.

Of course this is all weather permitting so I will keep checking the trail status as the date gets closer.

If it is your first time at FATS i can promise you, you will love it! Fats is one of the best trails in the southeast and has a mixture of heaven and hell and everything in between. Skinny and Brown Wave are the easier trails, Great wall is intermediate, and Deep Step and Tower, and Big rock are pretty hard. Bring your A game

We are still coming on Saturday even though it will be blazing hot.

Any other takers to lead a group around the trails? I have 3 beginner/intermediate women riders (2 who came with us last year) who I'd like to get a leader for - even though i know it's hard to get lost out there I'd like them to have someone who knows the trails.

Rained for about 10 minutes @5:15PM yesterday. Don't know whether there was more rain later in the evening. When we left at 7PM, the trails were perfect.

It rained a very small amount in the wee hours; should not affect the trails at all.

Neal - what happened to you?

Lot's of cars in the parking lot when we arrived, but a ghost town around 1ish. Weather was perfect being overcast and not too terribly hot.

Was able to get in Great Wall - CW, which I now prefer. Headed CCW on skinny, took out a tree off the boards right before the BW connector and broke my wrist...so the day was cut a little short.

OUCH!! "But there for the grace of God go I" or whatever that quote is. I'm put together kind of sturdy else I would break bones too. Hope you mend quick, and next time you come I will lead a begiiner group. I was committed to a work party today.

Hey Melissa sorry i was not able to make the ride, i emailed you yesterday to explain. I was sick the night before and didnt sleep well-

OMG so sorry to hear about your accident !!! I hope that you are ok? Did you ride or walk out? I think its a 3-4 mile ride fromt he spot you described, ouch- hope you heal up quick and are back ont the horse soon.

How did everyone else like the trails?

Everyone else loved the trails and I think they might even go back on their own some day.

Got a cast put on yesterday and I'll be out 4-6 weeks which really sucks because I was planning to come down for the Explore the Trails ride at Modoc on 8/8.

Neal - hope you are feeling better.

oh man, that sucks ! Id go crazy if i was told to stay off the bike for 6 weeks. maybe you can just do light riding around the neighborhood and stuff to keep your legs in shape.

What is the SMC?

I do something called the labor day trail crawl (it will be the 4th one this year) where we ride 5-6 local trails in one day, approx. 50 miles. Ours aren't all connected though so we have to get in the car and drive to each one.

I'm not too happy about it but hopefully it will go by fast and my skills won't suffer too much. I plan to continue my gym workouts so that should help.
