I know there is a huge group ride at FATS on Sat. for the IMBA Summit but wondered if there was a group heading to another trail that day. I love FATS but don't know if I want to be out there with several hundred people. Thanks, Melissa

Kona,
I think there is a guided ride at the new Bartram Trail on Saturday as well.
I have some friends in town and we are riding FATS on Thursday and Friday during the day probably starting around 10:00am. All different skill levels in the group of probably around 12 or so.
Saturday we will ride the new Bartram trail from Petersburg to Willdwood connector to Keg Creek and back. It is right at 40 miles. You are welcome to join us at any or all if you like.
Mark
Just send me a message and I'll give you my cell number.

My riding partner would likely kill me if I took her on a 40 mile ride saturday. What type of trail is Bartram? Flat? Hilly? Rolling? Technical?

My SO and I are going to be leading the ride. The new section has areas like the old Bartram, but also has some dips like FATS. There are no strenuous climbs, but it is more challenging than the old section.
We are meeting at the Petersburg trailhead at 9:00. We will lead a ride out the new section, include the Wildwood Connector, Keg, and back. That will be about 30 miles.
For those that want to, they can ride just the new section, which will be 9 miles out and 9 miles back. If you want to ride more after that, you can head out on the old section to Lake Springs and the West Dam.
I hope you join us! Email me a barbara dot drawdy at comcast dot net if you have any questions.

Bartram is a beginner friendly trail but fun for all. No real technical features (some rock structures on the new section) It also has various places to park and ride, West Dam, Lake Springs, Petersburg. The stretch from West Dam to Petersburg I have brought my daughter to ride and they loved it (13,12,8) It is fairly flat withmany fine views of the Lake. Total length is 18 miles one way with one 3 mile loop off of it. However you can make it shorter if need be.

Ok, we are in for the Bartram ride at 9:00. Might not do 30 miles but we'll see how we feel.
Now just direct me to the correct meeting place and I'm good. We will be coming from Evans - just off Washington Rd.

Go up Washington Rd toward the Lake (away from Augusta) at Pollards Corner (4 way stop sign) take a right. About 2-3 miles there will be a road (and sign) for Petersburg campground on the left. Take it. Just before the gate to the campground there is a lot (on the right) for Bartram Trail.
The new section is great. you will have a blast.

I am down to take people out to Modoc on Sat AM as well. I am meeting them downtown at 8 AM, so I expect we will be at Modoc by 9. I might try and talk them into going over to Lick Fork as well, time permitting

Ok, i know where i'm going now. We actually rode Bartram last fall and took it as far as the trail would go - which i guess is now the new connector trail to Keg Creek. Hopefully i will get to ride Modoc some time soon too. We have another Dirt Diva group coming down from Charlotte on Sat. July 10th (yes, i know it will be blazing hot ) if anyone wants to help with leading some groups.

I rode from Petersburg to Washington Rd and back on Saturday. My bike computer showed 24 total miles. I believe the 9 miles is just from Petersburg to Wildwood. It's another 3 miles from Wildwood to Washington Rd. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct in that the 9 miles is only to Wildwood, not washington road. If you ride Wildwood and the connector it adds right at 6 miles. BV and I rode it on Saturday and that's what we got.

Don't forget, if you make it to Wildwood and/or Washington Road and don't feel like roundtripping it; or feel too fatigued after adding Keg, you can always loop back around by pavement. I suppose it is 5 miles or so and has a couple of hills, but I'm confident it would be an easier pedal than 9 or 12 miles back through the woods.

As I read the thread, the Drawdy's will lead a ride of the new Bartram Trail Extension and Keg Creek on Saturday morning. They will meet at the Petersburg trail head @9am and head west toward Wildwood park. They will ride through Wildwood park, cross Washington Road, and ride Keg Creek.
From Petersburg to Wildwood Park is ~9 miles, another ~3 miles through Wildwood to Washington Road, and a loop of Keg Creek is ~9 miles. So, they should be riding ~33ish miles roundtrip.

Plainly: - A ride will start at the Petersburg trailhead Saturday morning at approximately 9am. Myself and the SO (yetichick) are the designated ride leaders. That does not mean that we will lead the group out, it just means that we are there to help and assist the group! - There will be a tent with drinks and cookies at the trailhead. Feel free to start there, say hi, and press on. - Ride from the Petersburg trailhead. Hit the new trail for approximately nine miles. - That pops you out at Wildwood Park. - Cross the road, then enter singletrack. Go less than half a mile and hit a gravel road. Hang a left. Go several hundred yards, pass a pile of mulch on your right, bear left on the gravel road, then go several hundred yards and hang a right back into the woods. Ride this singletrack to Washington Road. - Cross Washington Road, go straight and ride Keg Creek Trail. A bit less than eight miles. Pop out on kiosk, ride across the bridge (main road), then drop to your right, go 200 yards, then hang left and re-cross Washington Road. Retrace your steps back to the Petersburg trailhead. - Karen will be sitting at the tent, with cookies and non-alcoholic beverages waiting on you! MD
