My friend and I are racing in the Currahee Adventure Duathlon this weekend. He needs a set of ascenders for one of the checkpoints. I was wondering if anyone on here rock climbs/caves and has a set he could use. If so, please reply. Thanks!

does it have to be ascenders or is prusik cord allowed? You can use webbing or prusik cord and tie prusik knots. Prusik cord is really cheap and AWOL sells it. You could probably buy all that you need for two people for less than $10. You need six feet for each loop. A total of twelve feet per person. I would be glad to meet with you and show you how to use it. Send me an email if you are interested. laramiebrown@hotmail.com . You can use webbing as well, but I like prusik cord better. I have taught both of my boys how to prusik and they caught on quickly (age 7 and 8). I could probably offer a few tips for adventure racing as well. Here is a link on how to tie the knots: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prusik

I'm pretty sure it has to be ascenders. I understand using prusik cord for ascending in an emergency situation, but I don't think they want people to use that for the race.
Have you participated in the adventure races around here? I did the Western Carolina and the Canal races this year.
