I thought I was crazy when I headed up to FATs today, but i was shocked when I got there and saw 5 cars in the parking lot.
I promised myself I would not have an off season this year. Its not going well. My weight is inching up.
Here is the Challenge. Who can record the coldest ride at FATs.
Ride at least 1hr at FATS post the temp. (honor system)
I'll start Today- 41 degrees.
I would love to see someone post a 20 degree 7am ball freezer.

I believe you meant 41 degrees not -41.
Last year after a work party we rode with ice over the puddles. Last night rode Lake Springs Loop with a temp of 42. And 20 degrees isn't that cold for someone that used to hike/ski at -25 ;D

I rode at Modoc last year when it was 32 at the start of the ride. It was mid 40's by the end of the ride though. Once you get warmed up the cold isn't bad. Only problems I seem to have is keeping my feet warm.

Rode keg this morning. 31.7 when I left home, 38.2 when I got back. The frost on the leaves, roots and logs was nice. Creek crossings and standing water very cold.
Rode well bellow my normal speed. Did not want to over heat, sweat and then be cold. From my experience from x/c skiing and snowshoeing that is key for staying comfortable.

I've done some cold rides over the years.
I recall a Dark Star Ride many years ago in which I never took off anything that I started in. I think the ride was 7 hours. It never warmed up. This is the SMC route we did last May.
I've started riding in KY in about 17 degree weather. It did warm up to the low 30's that day.

It's looking like the Snake TT is going to be COLD on Saturday. Predicting snow on Friday, high of 36 on Saturday. As long as it doesn't rain I'll be happy.
Good times ahead...

Hey Dustin,
Looks like it's getting worse by the day. Now the wind that was suppose to be tomorrow is scheduled for Saturday. 20 mph will make the wind chill 13 degrees at 9am and only 21 at noon. I don't have a head sock or anything to cover face/neck. Glad I borrowed some some shoe covers.
Anybody got any ideas about how to stay warm biking in that kind of weather?

Me and mark rode in some cold today. My camelbak tube froze. One guy had to get in a SAG truck to thaw out his feet. His shoes and socks froze solid.
I'm not sure of the temp, but I think it was mid 20's this morning. Not sure about wind chill. It was cold.

someone posted at SORBA that at the start of Snake Creek TT it was 19 and when he left at 4:00 it was only 32. That was without the wind chill factor.

OP here,
Looks like we have a leader in the club house with 13.
I have gotten over my fear of cold weather riding this year. I finally realized that if I wait for only the good weather days i will not ride that much this winter.
Its only 37 right now, but I hitting the door for a 4 mile run. Need to drop some LB's

We left the house today at 2:15 and knocked out a couple of laps at HC. My vehicle showed 37. It felt oh so cold. I have a bunch of clothing from my Germany days, and those work great, but I am looking forward to the shoes from AJBW.
Sure do feel clumsy in these temps. Hard to really hit a good flow.
Sitting here now in front of a roaring fire. Life's good.

I waited til about 1:30 today, hoping to catch the high temps. I drove down to the canal and made a couple of laps before my toes starting getting really cold. I don't have any long biking pants, so I went with the blue jeans. It reminded me of the good old days.

Did the usual Wed night Canal ride last night. According to John P's computer the temperature was between 28-29. I didn't complain as Mark H was with us and he just came back from the Snake TT. Heard it was dang cold up there.

Drew,
You were thinking it though. lol
I think it is harder to do that type of ride when it's cold. You don't have enough sustained climbing to get you body temp up. I was cold last night as well.
