Since 2001, hiking community in New Hamphire have been flying the US flag over the 48 4000ft summits in honnor of deceased in the 9/11 attacks. I know many that have hiked up with the flag or to the summit that day and all believed it was a wonderful tribute. I was just thinking that the mt bike community could do a similiar tribute. Maybe attach a small US flag on our packs on the first Saturday that follows 9/11/09 (9/12) and ride the trails. www.flagsonthe48.org/

Great Idea!! I lost a childhood friend who worked in one of the towers. Too many times we forget what we have here in the US. I know that I for one will join in on this tribute. The folks that were lost in that tragedy and others lost in war for the life that we have here should be remembered whether they lost their life or not. I have a few friends who have or are currently in Iraq defending our country and small gestures or large are appreciated. Maybe a ride could be arranged where a small donation could be made and then donated (in the name of SORBA) to a place like Fisher House that helps the families of injured soldiers who are in the hospital after coming home early from the battlefield. Just a thought, but I will be looking for a flag to take along on my rides or maybe a sticker to attach to my bike. Again, love the idea.
