If you are riding trails that can be hunted around, over, on, near or if just seems like a place people hunt, please wear an orange hunters vest of some kind. This does wonders for our relationship with hunters and people that have been using these woods since before Gary Fisher was even born.
As we expect others to follow the rules that allow us almost exclusive use of most of the trails we ride, wearing orange during hunting season is an "unwritten" rule of the woods.
I know that I've come across hunters while I was wearing an orange vest and I got a vibe from them that I must be OK as I had on my orange. I've gotten some really negative vibes from hunters before, but never when I had on orange. I was speaking their language by following their rules.
Plus it is just plain smart to wear orange in the woods during hunting season.
And just plain dumb not to wear orange in the woods during hunting season.

When is hunting season in Georgia and South Carolinia anyway? I am fairly new to the area (well 14 months) being a transplant from New Hampshire.

Bow season must have already started because when we rode the Lake Trail on Friday night there was a guy all decked out in camo with a bow in his hand! Generally on the Lake Trail they require trail users to wear orange from October 1st on through hunting season!
