How fast has everyone been a bicycle? Be specific!
I've hit 22 somewhere on Deep Step, that's my fastest on a trail.
But I've hit 43 on road near the Buford Dam riding a rigid mountain bike.

Well, because I don't have a trip computer I just have to use relative terms.
I've gone so fast on Deep Step that I almost pissed myself.
I was riding Range Rd on Fort Gordon yesterday and I went so fast downhill that if I had hit a deer I would've ended up a long skid mark on the road.
And on the topic of speed (or lack thereof), I ran horn creek trail yesterday, and then biked it. My riding time was only 10 min faster than my running time.

48MPH coming down a fire road in Vail. Co. It was on the World Cup DH Course in about 1994. I was on a hardtail and I was scared.
My friend's computer said 54 MPH coming down the same hill.

Speaking of deer....I rode at Fort Yargo State Park (near Winder GA) last weekend and I heard something off to my left and before I could even turn to look a BIG doe ran out in front of me. It was so close I don't know how we didn't hit each other. Probably the scariest non-dirt-jumping moment I've ever had on a bike.

Since your question was on a bike and not a specific type, ie road or mtn, I'll reply thusly... MTB; no idea due to never having a computer on any of my mtb. But, nowhere near 54 mph. Road; 62 mph when I was living in Oregon. There just aren't that many places on the east coast to be able to get up to that kind of speed. The sweetest part was I was able to pass a car in the turn and beat it to the bottom. I did, however, hit 48 mph going down Georgia Ave in North Augusta with the help of a draft off of a dump truck when one could make the light @ Georgia Ave and Martintown Rd.

I think I did about 30 mph on the return trail at Tsali. On the road, there's a good hill near Harlem - I've done 46 on that and last summer I hit 49 once in NY and once in central PA on an extended road trip.
