Did you know that there is a need for NMBP Trail Ambassadors at our local trails?
What is a Trail Ambassador?
Well a Trail Ambassador is similar to the Bike Patroller in that he/she is there to assist, educate, and inform those who ride/hike our trails except the Ambassador isn't required to have CPR/First Aid certification and therefore is unable to assist in this manner.
How do I become a Trail Ambassador?
There are three mandatory requirements for IMBA/NMBP Ambassador Membership:
1. Affiliation with your local NMBP group. (You must be a member of SORBA-CSRA)
2. Successful completion of any of the following courses:
• A mountain bike patrol training course (taught by a local NMBP-affiliated group). (You'll need to take the same class as the Bike Patrollers)
• A volunteer host training program (taught by local land manager).
3. A passing grade on the NMBP Ambassador online certification exam.
All Trail Ambassadors may join or renew online, provided you have coordinated with your local NMBP group and have approval to volunteer with them.
What are the benefits to being a Trail Ambassador?
All NMBP Trail Ambassador memberships include these benefits:
• Membership in both IMBA and the NMBP
• Ambassador handbook
• Free entry to select IMBA Patrol training events
• IMBA/NMBP membership card
• IMBA socks
• IMBA/NMBP number plate
• IMBA stickers
• IMBA Trails poster
• Access to NMBP Online Forums
• Eligibility to purchase official NMBP merchandise.
• Subscription to IMBA Trail News
• Subaru VIP Partners program: Save up to $3000 on a new car
• All standard IMBA member benefits
NMBP Trail Ambassador membership only cost $35.00 and includes IMBA membership. This combined membership entitles you to all of the standard IMBA individual membership benefits plus the added privilege of being an NMBP Trail Ambassador. While you essentially get two memberships for the price of one, NMBP makes it easy to access all your benefits with just one membership card.
Not to mention your satisfaction in working directly with the Bike Patrol Group to provide assistance to trail users who need it. And you get to wear a cool jersey!
Please refer to the NMBP site for a full list of NMBP Member benefits @ www.imba.com/nmbp/membership.html
If you have any questions, send them along and I will try to answer them for you.
Be safe!
