An update on Horn Creek: The whole trail needs mowed, but there are certain sections that need it more than others. Here is our plan: Section 2: Starting from the far end (where sections 2 and 3 meet), take in the DR mower and mow to the Eagle scout bridge and back. Couple of people follow with loppers. There are a lot of overhead branches, etc., that need lopped. This is definitely the worst section on the trail. Section 4, starting where sections 3 and 4 meet: Take a DR in and go as far as the bridge after the eroded switchback. Turn around and come back. There isn't as much lopping that needs done here. More of it is on the ground where they did the logging, but that is getting very overgrown. That leave the hedge trimmers. Section 1 and the beginning of section 2 could be done with those. The burning did not look like a success. The USFS had announced that it would be their biggest, but I don't think they got a lot of cooperation from the forest. It looks like they dropped the balls, it burned about 20 feet around each ball, but nothing really spread out and really burned anything. It sure didn't help with any of the mowing and lopping! The last time we mowed Horn Creek was 3 years ago. Michael and I went in with Ray and Trish and mowed most of it. It definitely needs it now.
If you can help, that would be appreciated. Gonna meet at the entrance of Lick Fork Lake Recreation area at 9am. Hope to be done by noon!

Thanks to all who showed up. It is really appreciated! We had nine hearty volunteers ready to go at 9am. Two DRs, two Stihl stick trimmers and a bunch of loppers. Sections two and four got DR'ed and the other sections got lopped.
Several of us then gathered at the Sportsman's Corner for some chow. YC and I headed back out and knocked out a couple of laps of HC to check out the handiwork. The trail was a joy to ride compared to last week.
Thanks again, MD
