SMC is coming and we need to get some serious work done on Wine Creek.
Ideally we need 15+ people to make an impact on things that need to be done. Otherwise SMC will have to be done "Old School Style" meaning bushwhacking through.
The following is an email I received from the Drawdy's about items that need to be done:
This is what we need:
A group of 3 people to head in from the parking lot at 283. They would have a small chainsaw and the 2 pole pruners. They would cut out the small tree that is up over the trail, and mow several sections using the stick hedgers/cutters. They would go as far as the ravine, and turn around and go back.
Then we need a couple groups of 3 or 4 people, with pulaskis and a small chainsaw to head in from Key Road. They can leap frog over each other and get the debris cleared. There is one spot that will take a lot of work.
A hour or two later, 2 people need to head in with the DR mowers. One can start and mow right next the trail, and a few minutes later the other one can follow and do another swath so there is a double swath on each side. They need to go in until the ravine, turn around and come back. May need 4 people (2 per DR) so they can take turns.
We also need to use a come-along and move the bridge back into place. I think it is something like 1/2 a mile from Key Road.
As you can see there's a lot to be done and not much time left.
Please come out to help. Especially if you are wanting to participate in SMC.
Keep an eye out on the site for further details.
I'm going to have a survey under this topic to count the number of people wanting to participate in the workparty, so please respond only once.
