Up for sale is a 2007 Trek Fuel EX 5 that was purchased brand new from Outspokin Bicycles, Augusta, GA on Sept 11, 2008.
Since buying the bike, I have upgraded it with many parts listed below:
2008 FOX 32 TALAS RL 90-110-130mm travel white fork w/lockout
2009 FOX FLOAT RP23 rear shock w/propel adjust and lockout
2007 SRAM X7 trigger shifters
2007 SRAM X9 rear derailleur
2007 Shimano XT front derailleur
2009 Avid Juicy FIVE white hydraulic brakes w/Avid 160mm rotors
2008 SRAM STYLO GXP crankset
2008 SRAM GXP bottom bracket
2007 Shimano HG 9-speed chain
2008 Thomson Elite 31.8 x 367mm black seatpost
2008 Fizik Alante XM saddle
2008 Cannondale 120mm x 31.6 x 10o rise 1 1/8" stem
2008 FSA XC 281 T6061 alloy lo rise handlebar w/lizard skin grips
2007 Cane Creek headset
2009 KENDA 26 x 2.35 Nevegal STICK-E John Tomac front tire
2009 KENDA 26 x 2.10 Small Block-8 DTC John Tomac rear tire
The frame, wheelset, headset, and cassette are the only parts left on the bike that are stock.
The bike is cobalt blue in a matte finish. The frame size is 17.5"
All of the upgrade parts were purchased brand new and installed on the bike by myself or the folks at Chain Reaction Bicycles in Martinez, GA over the past five month period. No used parts were used for the upgrade.
The weather has been wet since September and has only allowed infrequent opportunities to ride. I think I have less than 75 total miles on the bike. All of the miles have been ridden at FATS and Bartram Trail.
The tires, saddle, stem, crankset w/bb, and handlebar are all brand new. The tires have less than 20 miles on them and still have the nubbies on the tread.
The bike rides like you would expect a Fuel EX bike. It's very stable and tight. The drivetrain works perfectly without any unexpected noises. There are no dents or scratches as the bike has never been crashed. It's been kept in the dining room when not in use and meticulously cleaned after each ride.
Even though it is an EX 5 bike, it has suspension, brake, and shifter components that can only be found on EX 7 or higher bikes. Compare the component spec sheets at www.trekbikes.com and you'll see what I mean. Compare the prices too, if you like.
I paid $1150.00 for the bike and have put well over $1000.00 in new upgrade parts. I'm offering the bike for $1200.00. For that price you get a nearly new bike with an impressive parts list. If you are local, you won't have to pay shipping and reassembly charges.
I'll be out of town all next week and won't be able to respond to anyone who may be interested until I return on Friday. Send me a message if interested or if you have any questions or would like to see the bike.
I'll post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to add them to this message.
YAY! I figured out how to post a picture! Thanks Bill!
