Looking forward to a long dry weekend and now the trail is closed till MARCH??? What's up with that? The canal trail might as well be closed due to the no. of trees down and no one willing to help move them after I've offered several times to meet someone down there.
Makes me remember why I got rid of my last MTB....

Open trails:
Modoc Turkey Creek Wine Creek Horn Creek Hickory Knob Baker Creek Bartram
I'll work the FATS on Saturday if you want. What time. I got the tools and I know what and where the work is.
I'm pissed as hell at the people that wouldn't quit riding the FATS. We got 7" of rain from Christmas to last week and folks just kept riding out there.
So the USFS (they own the trail) closed it. I would too if someone was fugging up something I owned.
Saturday. What time is good for you?

Dude, you asked about clearing trail twice, both toward the end of December (12-26/12-30), and to further narrow your choices of people to help they had to have a chainsaw..gee whiz. Personally I celebrate Christmas and New Years with family as I'm sure a lot of people do. Last weekend it rained big time Sunday, next weekend there is going to be a bridge built, lets help with that, then maybe you can find someone with a saw.

First of all, I can eat crow. I for one have only ridden FATS once and didn't realize the situation, and have never ridden any of the other trails. 1. I didn't realize that the trail had been abused by people going out there when they know it's too wet. I've got enough common sence to know better than that... 2. I didn't realize the trail would hold as much water as it suposedly does. 3. I realized when I went down to the canal today to try to clear some brush around the trees, that it was still that wet. 4. You would have to have a chainsaw to clear the trees on the canal trail. I don't even think an ax would work, I thought long and hard about it today, and it just wouldn't work. 5 and lastly, my wife works every other weekend including next weekend unfortunatly and I have a new baby with no family in this area, so I can only work or help on those weekends. In my opinion, it just seemed like a project that would take about 30 min. to do and such. But of course with more trees down now, it will obviously take longer. Oh, email me seenvic, I can probably help out tomorrow afternoon around 3 ish. mosovich@comcast.net Sorry if I pissed anyone off, there was just no explanation, just simply "closed"

Oh, one more thing. Are you talking about working at the Fats trail or canal on Sat.?
Thanks for your reply it helps explain alot when there is more information to be known. Like (people are abusing the trails and the USFS is closing them for that reason)..... I truly didn't mean to come off like an arse with my initial post, just a lack of info was given and I didn't understand the reasoning...
