The Augusta Canal road is now gated at the foot bridge right below the head gates, the Martinez / Evans end of the road. You can go across the foot bridge and the head gates but can't go down the canal.
The single track is no longer accessible from this end either while the construction is taking place, even if these new gates are open.
14 miles of good weeknight "Pavel" is gone for a few months.
If anyone has or sees any information concerning the closures let us know.

I think you should still be able to get to the single track from the southern entrance. Depending on where the road is gated, you may have to park downtown and ride in, but I do that a good bit from work anyhow. If you park at the Enterprise Mill, there's a trail that runs along the canal starting at the 15th street bridge, on the Walton Way side of the canal, not the Broad St side. Follow the trail down to Broad St, turn right to ride across the canal, then left across Broad and go down by King and Sibley Mill. Then just follow that upper walking/biking path a few miles to the southern entrance to the single track. Here's the southern entrance: maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=112493191138240861154.0004351308c52f1b7228a&ll=33.498351,-81.996913&spn=0.001011,0.001727&t=h&z=19 And here you can see the trail at the 15th street bridge, on the south/west side: maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=112493191138240861154.0004351308c52f1b7228a&ll=33.478655,-81.984449&spn=0.001011,0.001727&t=h&z=19

you can actually park right by the southern trailhead, at the canal overflow area. come in on the dirt access road from downtown(sibley mill I think) off of broad st. the road will turn left and cross the railroad tracks, then curve back to the right and come to a large dirt clearing. park there and follow the road around to the right across a small cement bridge and the trailhead will be directly in front of you on the other side of the tracks. drop in and rip it up.

Is the canal tow path and trail access from the pump station/ball park still a no go?

I contacted the Augusta Canal Authority to see about the status of the towpath itself. Word is it will be another 3-4 weeks as of today until it's open completely. They don't exactly know seeing as it's a city project and not the responsibility of the Canal Authority.

Drew, how will that affect the Lock to Lock ride? Just start from the pumping station?
