I swung by the Petersburg trailhead this past weekend and noticed a few improvements by the COE: 1) the kiosk has been relocated just to the left of the trail headed East 2) a dirt berm has been pushed up to discourage bikers from taking the "shortcut" heading East - just to left of kiosk former location 3) the pavement has been striped to make the extension obvious and make for a safer crossing (don't know if Lake Spring Rd was done) and 4) new post and trail marker as you enter the extension. If you see COE rangers out while you're in the area, please drop a comment on their partnership in the continuing development of this fine trail.

Those guys/gals really step up to the plate, don't they? You have established a great rapport with them. Thanks for all you have done, and yes, I will make it a point to give them a big "Thanks" when I see them. That said, I tried last night to make reservations for the BikeFest 09, but the reservation site they use www.recreation.gov/ allows six-month-out reservations only. IOW, if we again have the BF on the 1st Saturday of November, I will try to lock up site 1 on the 7th of May. MD

The Lake Springs Road crossing has also been striped. COE told me today that they will be installing a pit toilet at the Petersburg trailhead - sounds similar in construction to the ones at FATS and Lick Fork.
