Can anyone tell me if there is still a problem with parking at Key bridge?
If there is, is there a "safe" (safer) place to park?

Can anyone tell me if there is still a problem with parking at Key bridge? If there is, is there a "safe" (safer) place to park? Donald D, If you like, you can park at the canoe put in. This is on the southeast side of Key Bridge. I am gonna assume you drive across Key Bridge and then park on the left (Turkey Creek side of the road). This parking lot is on the other side of the bridge. Driving northwest on Key Rd, don't cross the bridge. Look for a sign that says Prices Bottom, and take that left onto to gravel road. Park at the end of this road, and ride your bike across the bridge and to the trails. Good luck. Bill

I agree with Bill. Also, I think that we should make it a regular parking spot. There is more room and less chance of being mowed down while on the road. When there are more than 5 cars at the trailhead, there tends to be people parked all over the place. (i.e. In ditches and on hillsides.) Besides, it adds more distance to the overall ride.

Thanks for the info!
It was quite a shock last year after arriving at the trails and then seeing the signs that were posted. Paula was really disapointed because we didn't get to ride there.
All's well that ends well, we drove over to Baker Creek and Hichory Knob and had a great ride. ;D

From the believe it when it happens department.....
I was told today that the Army Reserves are looking for projects (not in Iraq) and a possible bridge project is to make the old Key Bridge crossable again.
For those that rode in the Long Cane Massacre Ride back in 1999, remember the old bridge that had a large hole in it just before the actual Massacre site. Well, that bridge is now repaired (by the Army Reserves). A group of us were actually riding out there one day and happened upon them working on it. I rememer Ernest fell in the creek trying to ride thru it!
Anyway if this project is done, it will make parking on the side of Key Road a thing of the past. We'd all park at the canoe put in and ride across Turkey Creek on the old bridge. There is a beautiful view of the creek from this bridge.
My source is a great one. Probably the only person in the world I'd believe. She was not guarenteeing the project would happen, but does wish to see it happen.
