I ride this trail a couple of times a week usually with my club (Lander University Bike Club) and the longer loop portion is in great disrepair. I rode it about a week ago and it seemed about every 100 yards there were trees down and there was no way around except to throw the bike on over. If you take the shorter loop (15m) it is in great shape, but if you're looking to do the long ride, good luck. It is very obvious these sections aren't be ridden often. needs better trail markings. Some signs like at FATS sure would help in some of these sections.
Overall though, these trails will still have frequent visits from me and my crowd.

If you are talking about the lower section that goes by Parson's Mountain, you are right. Very few people seem to ride that section. We tried riding it a couple years ago, but the USFS had even closed part of it due to a conflict with the trail crossing private property. I don't know what happened to that issue, but did find out that the Greenwood mountain bikers do not ride that section. It was almost impossible to ride it due to downed trees, debris, and overgrowth. It doesn't look like the horse riders use that section very often, either. We are looking into putting some signs on that trail, like the FATS signs. It is in the planning stages, and requires USFS approval. It will happen, so keep a lookout for the signs in the future.

It's a real shame that the whole trail isn't kept up. I rode the trail in figure-eight style - which means you ride the mid section twice - about 1 & a half years ago - it was 30 -35 miles and was a blast. Weren't too many trees down but the heavy duff on the south end made the going tough there.

The rest of the trail is usually kept in great shape outside of hunting season because of all the bikers, but the parsons mountain sections are horrible. The land dispute is still ongoing apparently. That was probably one of the worst things about riding this section. The couple of miles on the road are pace killers and mess up the ride. Its no fun with all the wide mountain bike tires.
