FATS will be CLOSED from October 11 through October 24 for hunting. FATS will be OPEN Sunday October 15 & 22 for non-hunting activities such as biking & hiking. For the remaining hunting season (until January 1, 2007 ) riding in the middle of the day, 10am till 3pm and wearing hunter safety orange is strongly recommend. No hunting is allowed on Sundays.
Bike Fest – November 4th – Our annual Fall Bikefest is scheduled for Saturday, November 4th at the Bartram Lake Trail (this will be our November Explore the Trails event). We will meet in the afternoon at the Petersburg trailhead for a ride followed by a cookout at the Petersburg Campground, a night ride later in the evening, then marshmallows and snacks around the campfire! More details will follow ……come enjoy this annual tradition!
Trail News – Several trails need work this fall and hopefully we’ll get some of that work scheduled soon. Cooler weather is finally here and shorter days means it is time to pull out the nightlights. Use caution since there are trees down on some of the trails right now! The reports that I am getting indicate these trails need to be cleaned up and ridden soon!!
Turkey Creek – No recent report but this trail was reported as nearly unrideable due to overgrowth and remnants left by a storm earlier in the summer.
FATS – Good condition – Please respect the upcoming trail closure!!
Wine Creek- No recent report but this trail was reported as nearly unrideable due to overgrowth and remnants left by a storm earlier in the summer.
Horn Creek/Lick Fork - Good condition.
Hickory Knob – Last report there are trees down on the Lake Loop and on Turkey Ridge.
Canal Off-Road – The trail is in good condition – but there are trees down on the section down by the river near the start.
Modoc – Recent reports are the trail needs some maintenance due to overgrown areas and trees down.
Long Cane – Good condition!
Baker Creek – No current report!
Bartram (Wildwood) - Still closed due to construction.
Keg Creek – In good shape but there are currently 4 trees down!
Bartram Trail (Lake) – Good condition – trees have been removed and the airstrip area has been mowed.
Issaqueena - The southern section of Issaqueena is WMA so bikers should avoid it until hunting season is over on December 22nd except on Sundays. The Doyle Bottom area is a particular mess. All the trails outside of the WMA north of Dam Road are in good condition.
