The primary hunting season (deer season with firearms) for South Carolina (the location of most of the mtb trails in the CSRA) is Oct 11 - Jan 1 (for the areas our trails are located in - Zone 2) and for Georgia it is Oct 16 - Jan 9.
Hunting is allowed on public lands in South Carolina on all days except Sunday (this is currently under review to potentially allow hunting in South Carolina 7 days a week). In Georgia hunting is allowed 7 days a week.
There is no hunting allowed in state or county parks (Hickory Knob, Mistletoe, Boyd Pond) unless otherwise posted.
Please wear hunter’s orange shirt, jersey or vest while riding during hunting season. In addition, avoid riding near sunrise and sunset when visibility is low. Night riding AFTER dark should be fine.
Avoid wearing brown or white if possible (the colors of our local deer). Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings.
Please respect all trail users that come to enjoy our public lands, avoid user conflicts!
