Hey Angela, would it be possible to sort the postings by most recent at top? That way your recent posts are at the top on trail conditions. Awesome. Thanks for the update, Greg Fortunately the weather system that rolled through yesterday only dropped about a quarter of an inch of rain. Weather predicted for the next 10 days looks excellent although subject to change pretty rapidly.

Due to the varying intensity of the front that moved through and reports of very heavy rain in the vicinity of FATS we did a check of trail conditions. It’s apparent it got a lot of rain and it needs to dry out at least through Friday.
When you turn into the main parking lot at FATS and the two depressions in the lot are filled to the brim that’s a very good indication that the trails are too wet to use.

We actually had very little rain from the system that rolled through yesterday. It looked a little concerning in the morning but it essentially fell apart as it reached our area. Trails should be good to go.

(4/24/21 noon) Large system pushed across our area between 9 and noon today, more rain expected later today. We’ve had between a 1/2 inch and inch of rain. FATS has been dry so should be good to go in about 24 hours after the rain stops depending on additional amount we receive. Stay tuned for updates!

We are in the midst of a weather event after a 3 week dry spell.
Local meteorologists are saying we could end up with 3 to 6 inches of rain this week.
Right now the area around FATS appears to have received about 1 1/2 inches so far.
Please do not use the trails until the rain stops and we can assess trail conditions. We will keep you posted!!

We do not have enough volunteers signed up for Saturday's (June 12th) work party, if you have time to come help please sign up now. We will work for 3 or 4 hours to get the Skinny Trail mowed, trimmed and lopped. If we don't get enough volunteers we will do the work we can and move on to the next trail and come back to Skinny later in the season. We will be working with DR mower, string trimmers, hedgers and loppers. Thank you!
In addition we will have another work party, a smaller one, on Sunday, June 13th (afternoon) this work party will concentrate on eliminating blind corners on the Brown Wave Trail in advance of an upcoming work party on that trail. Again we plan on working for 3 to 4 hours and primary equipment on this work party will be hedgers. Thank you!
If you can help with either of these work parties please reach out as soon as possible to sorba.csra@gmail.com Please help spread the word. These work parties will not be held if weather or trail conditions are not good!

Update FATS!
Trails are good to go, will still be some soft spots here or there. Given the intensity of the system that came across, expect erosion and trees down. This will also invigorate growth along the trail…….
We currently only have 10 volunteers signed up to work the Skinny Trail on Saturday. If that does not improve we will work half of Skinny and the rest will be completed later this summer. If you can give 3 or 4 hours on Saturday please contact us at sorba.csra@gmail.com. Thank you!

Claudette isn’t finished with us but has dropped approximately an inch of rain in the vicinity of FATS. Please allow the trails to dry out some before you use them.
The trails were dry going in to this so 24 hours should be sufficient AFTER the rain stops if we don’t receive a lot more rain. Stay tuned we will provide updates!
Thank you!
