We are currently looking at Saturday, July 30th for our annual Turkey Creek/Wine Creek Mowathon. It will be dependent on the number of volunteers we can round up for this work party. We really need about 20 volunteers. This work party will involve mobilizing the majority of our equipment (DR mowers, hedgers, weedeaters) so we will need operators (we already have a couple on board) and relief/safety/lopper sidekicks for each piece of equipment. Save the date, more details to come but if you already know you are available and can help, please email me at sorba.csra@gmail.comIt is important that we know you are planning to join us so we can plan to have enough equipment/tools to maximize the work we can do on these two trails. If we don't get enough volunteers we likely will bring just enough equipment/tools to do minimal work on those trails. This work is scheduled for the weekend before our Explore the Trail Ride on this trail, come join us for both. Thank you!

We are about two weeks out and have a good start on volunteers to clean these two trails up. Please check your calendars and if you have a few hours in the morning of Saturday, July 30th, please volunteer for this work party!

Deano we had 4 sawyer teams out on Turkey and Wine over the weekend removing trees that were down on both trails. As of right now the trail is cleared (except for a few favorite riders) and ready for next Saturday's work party!

We are 5 days away from our annual Turkey/Wine Mowathon. Still need a couple more people to help with this work party to ensure that we get both trails done. 4 sawyer teams (an actually 6 of our sawyers) were out on these trails over the weekend to remove all the trees that were down (except a few choice riders that were left purposely) in preparation for this work party. If you can help for a few hours on Saturday morning please email me at SORBA.csra@gmail.comThank you!

Lost a worker, could definitely use a couple more people at least to do these two trails justice, if your schedule has opened up for Saturday morning contact us at SORBAcsraNever ride this trail?? No worries, maybe you were busy when we worked on the trail you normally ride (FATS/Bartram/etc) and couldn't help then, now is another chance to give back by helping maintain one of the other trails in our area (and you just might discover another jewel to add to your ride list)! Thanks, Angela

We were briefly up to 18 volunteers which would have been adequate to get all this work done but had two drop out at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. If you can help please contact us at SORBAcsra as soon as possible so we can get you added to the list and give you information. Thank you!

Ultimately we ended up with 14 volunteers for the work party - more would have been ideal as we would have given these two trails a cleaner sweep but we managed to touch the majority of the two trails. Thanks to everyone who volunteered (even those who ended up not able to make it at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances). These two trails really needed this attention! For those who didn't make it but still want to help Horn Creek is probably going to be the next target. And you can actually still help these trails even if you couldn't come out to help yesterday, give them some wheels! Here are most of the members of the fearless crew who took on heat, humidity and yellow jackets to get these trails back in good riding condition. It's a good thing we had some people volunteer who ride these trails often enough to know where they SHOULD go - check out the landscape in front of Banks - does not look like there is trail here. Other places the weedeaters are the better tool since you can sometimes walk a ways between the overgrown sections - that didn't happen in this segment being worked, it's a lower lying area of Turkey and it was mostly a solid area of overgrowth. Okay the trees have been removed, the trail should be mowed or weedwhacked the majority of the way all just in time for the Explore the Trail Ride coming up next Saturday. Check out the details in the Explore the Ride section above. Here is a section of Wine Creek that will be familiar to all who ride there. Absolutely beautiful - come join us and check out these two trails!
