Saturday was awesome. Forecast was for rain all day, but I was planning on riding anyways. Woke up and a storm front had just moved through, and another was a few hours behind it. I got dressed and headed out on the road bike looking for dirt. The storm front broke up. I was dressed and prepared for mid 50*F temps and rain, ended up in mid 70's and sun. Got a great start to my cycling tan. Got a little burned. The last few miles home I was hammered, and the headwind was brutal. Almost bailed and called for a pick up just 3 miles from home, but my bike was way too dirty to put into the trunk of my wife's car. Little ringed it the rest of the way.
Ended up with just over 5hrs of ride time, just under 80 miles, all from my front door. Great day out, and road bikes are awesome.
The day started wet, grey, and a bit foggy. The first stretch of dirt looked inviting. This was my first time on this road. I'll be back for sure.
Tried out a camera timer app. It works.
Eventually it was too warm for knee warmers, but my pockets were full. The stem works.
More dirt.
Lots of pavement, lots of rolling hills.
Kid shoes for sale in a podunk gas station. I was the only person in the joint not wearing any camo.
Fence post puppy lovin' Santa on the side of the road.
Pretty farmland. More hills.
A North Augusta institution. Almost home...
The bike was pretty angry by the time I got home, but has since been cleaned off, re-lubed, and is ready for more.
