Several of us rode NW from Petersburg today. Lake levels back down but lots of debris at high water line. Also several non riders down plus a big one that almost took out the bridge near MP 11. Broke hand rails but deck is OK.

many trees down between the 'Burg and the Dam + Lake springs Loop. Directions from the 'burg. One about 100ft from the lot, #2 just after the pond (in the campground section) #3 just before the "Keg Creek" sign. #4 just before the 3 mile mark (150 ft before the dirt road, 20+ in diameter) #4 at the top of the switch backs partially blocking the trail (20+ in diameter) #5 between marker 1 and 1.5 (big branch that with two or so could be pushed off)
On Lake Springs, #6 between marker 2 and 2,5(3 trees close together) #7 close to mile 3 (from the boat ramp take a left after bridge (20+ in diameter) #8 near marker .5 this is in near the road (20+ in diameter)
The trail is the wettest I have ever seen it. Lots of standing water and some in places I have never seen it in.

Bartram Trail, from Petersburg to West Dam (including Lake Springs Loop), should be clear of downed trees.
Steve S. and his crew removed 12 downed trees from Bartram yesterday. Thank you to Steve and your crew.

After we realized that there were enough hands for the FATS workparty yesterday, Nevin and I cut the tree on Big Rock then headed to Bartram to finish cutting trees between Petersburg and Wildwood. We also cleared drains but after riding today, we realized some of the drains in the big dips are going to need more work. I hauled the camera around all day yesterday and forgot to take before/after shots so here are a few "after" shots from today: Nevin sponsored a rider: We want to thank SORBA CSRA leadership for allowing us to be included in the FATS workparty as well as Andy Jordan's for the $50 (!) gift certificate I won and the $25 gift certificate Nevin won. We are very fortunate to have awesome local bike shops here in the CSRA to keep us safe and happy on the trails and roads. Please give them your business every chance you get!

Rode a Petersburg and Lake Springs loop yesterday. Some seeps but mostly fast and dry. Thanks to the sawyers; all clear with a lot of downed trees recently cut! Just two low ones to duck under;probably bent from prior snow.

Burg to Lake spring, 4 trees need a chain saw. 1. About 300 ft in (can duck but it is at head level) 2. Just before the first bridge, 15" diameter and at chest level 3. between keg Creek sign and airstrip 10" or so, easy to climb over. 4. near marker 2.5 6-8" and easy to climb over.
There is also about 6 spots that a handsaw and two people could wrestle it off the trail.

We cleared off four decent size trees. The last one was really a mess we cleared it all off the trail except the main part of the tree. Luckily it is parallel to the trail. There are three trees that need to be cut 1) 3/4mi in just before bridge 2) 4.5-4mi marker 3) 3-2.4 mi marker

Just road West Dam to Petersburg this afternoon. As noted previously - most of the 6.4 miles is clear. Hand saw took care of the last couple of impassable areas that do not require a chainsaw. There is a tree down at 1.2 miles that is rideable. There are 3 trees down that require cutting: (based on mile markers) 2.6 miles, 4.2 miles (weak attempt with handsaw failed) and 5.9 miles.

Bartram (West Dam, Lake Springs, Pburg, and west past the big dip) should be clear!!! A huge thanks to Steve S. and his crew for going out after this morning's thunderstorms and giving back to our trails.
Steve and his crew will be sawing again tomorrow morning at FATS (he is one of our USFS Certified Sawyers). Come out tomorrow morning or, when you see Steve and his crew, please thank them for all their time and effort clearing ice storm damage from our trails.

We (JP3, PF, and SY) cleared, via chainsaw, 5 non-riders between mile markers 11 and 13.5 and another non-rider near Pburg (pond near campground). Should be good to go for the Best Dam Ride next weekend.

Bartram Trail from Petersburg to Wildwood is in great condition. There are a couple of trees that need to be removed (non-riders) at some point. One is past the 13 mile mark heading west (it's an overhead tree that is broken and shorter riders can just duck and ride under it). The next tree fell down the trail but at a slight angle and it is not too far past the tree mentioned above if you are heading west.

A little more work this morning for the Wildwood Games. We created a new rake-n-ride section connecting Bartram to doubletrack trail, hacked our way through a jungle-like section of doubletrack, (one of us) got stung multiple times by yellowjackets living under a rider, connected the rake-n-ride section at the southern end of the airstrip to doubletrack, mowed Bartram Trail where it crosses the airstrip, mowed several other sections of overgrown doubletrack, and we improved the downhill rake-n-ride entrance to creek crossing #2 (below dam). A big thank you to JP3, Seth, and Tom Z. for giving up their Fourth of July morning. Note to self: take care of yellowjackets living under rider before the Wildwood Games. Seth gave the rake-n-ride section, 2nd creek crossing below the dam, a test ride. Video clip is at the following URL (no log in required): www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=717350614998779

Rode from the dam to mile marker 10.5. Two trees down, first between 2.5 and marker 3 at the top of the switch back. Goes along the trail, can ride by but not sure if it on the trail r just really close to it. The other is between 3 and marker 3.5. Pretty sure a ride-around will form around this one. Other then tat the trail in this section is great.
