Due to the government shutdown, FATS is closed to all users. The FATS 50K will use is looking for an alternative venue. More information about the race can be found at fats50k.com/.
Regardless, and as long as the government is shut down and the trailhead is posted with USFS signs indicating trail closure, FATS is officially closed to all users. Please direct all comments and suggestions to your local congressional representative(s).
Be aware that there is a 50k trail run scheduled to take place at FATS on Sunday, October 6th (8:00AM until late afternoon). FATS will remain open, and loops can be traveled in either direction, during the race, but you may want to avoid trail traffic on the lower four loops Sunday morning or plan around the race route (see below).
Remember that runners and hikers have the right of way if you are on a bike. Please yield to runners, unless they offer to yield (and many will). Trail runners are our friends, so let's be extra careful and not have any collisions.
Here is the race route with approximate times when you will encounter increased foot traffic.
