The 2013 CCTT is now halfway done! Round 2 had 28 racers lining up and fighting off mosquitos and sandy turns. With one race each direction now, we have our first look at the Overall Standings, and potential winners of the Osprey hydration packs (1st place in each class gets a pack!). It was great to see some regulars who weren't able to make it last week, and even better seeing several new faces. Big thanks again to everyone for coming out, and to those who helped!
In the Womens class we once again had a great turnout, with 7 ladies taking to the trail! The battle for 2nd was close, with Candace Zipf taking 3rd and Becky Lambert taking 2nd by only 3 seconds. Kim Jordan took 1st once again this week.
In the Novice class Loise Kelly knocked 2 whole minutes off last weeks time for3rd place, and CCTT first timer Patrick Nelson spun his way into 2nd, and Dave Clarke worked his way into 1st.
In the Sport class grew to 9 racers this week thanks to several new folks coming out. John Pilcher made the podium again this week with a 3rd place time. Tyler Funk was faster this week than last despite the slower conditions, and he took the 2nd place spot. Chad Kimbrell made his 2013 CCTT debut and put himself on the top spot with the fastest time in the Sport class.
The Expert class had 9 racers again this week, with a few new faces. Times were all close once again. Sean McClure laid down the watts to make the podium in the #3 spot, and Dustin White made his CCTT debut with a 2nd place finish just 6 seconds ahead of Sean. When Ben Grose rounded the turn at the bottom of the stairs it was obvious he was in it to win it, going noticeably faster around the bend than anyone else all night. Once again he had the fastest time of the night and took home the 1st place trophy.
With one race each direction the Overall Standings are taking shape as well. The closest battles currently are for 1st in Sport, with John Pilcher and Tyler Funk only 8 seconds apart. The race for 2nd in the Expert class is tight too, with only 3 seconds separating Sean McClure and Josh Jackson.
Gator went a little too fast for this sandy corner!
