Here is a short list of miscellaneous volunteer opportunities that could be done by 1 or more people as your time is available.
Wine Creek. Disassemble the bridge nearest Key Bridge. Need: hammer, perhaps sledge hammer and simply remove all the decking from the stringers. Remove the hand rails (if still attached). Stack neatly. We will move the stringers into place w/ a 12 person crew and dingo and then re-deck once in place.
Hard ware cloth. We all love the hard ware cloth on the slimy bridges. Someone has to put it there. We have measured all the bridges on Wine Creek that need it and have the locations mapped w/ a GPS unit. The Allens (Dan and Angela) have the hardware cloth at their place in Martinez.
1. Get w/ the Allens and cut the hardware cloth into the lengths specified for each bridge. Label each pre-cut piece by the bridge number it is for. This could be done at your home. Need: hardware cloth and snippers.
2. Deliver the hardware cloth to each bridge. This would take either a bike/bob trailer or a wheel-barrow and walking in. Up to you how you do it.
3. Tack the cloth onto the bridges. Need a hammer and some fencing nails - which we have plenty of. This could be a job that is done from a bike. Could do 2 & 3 at same time, or sperately.
Turkey Creek, Modoc, Horn Creek - all need the bridges measured for hardware cloth. Don't forget the ramps also. Need : bike, pencil, paper, and tape measure. A bike computer may be good to write down the distance the bridge is from a set point. A GPS unit would be great - if you know how to set waypoints.
All for now. Please step up if you can.
