Greetings from Kentucky, My wife and I will be travelling through Augusta May 19th, 2013 and I am really hoping to ride FATS. Providing that the weather cooperates and the trails are dry, I'd really like to ride with anyone who knows the system. I am an avid cyclist (former XC racer) and will be travelling with my road and mountain bike. We will probably be getting into town mid-day and I would love to get in 3-4 good hours if possible. I did read about the Lock-to-Lock ride, but since I'm only in town for one day, I plan on riding as much of FATS as I can. I've been riding for over 10 years, and have heard great things about FATS. I just want to have a good ride and enjoy the outdoors. Would rather ride with some locals than by myself. If there are any like minded mountain bikers who wouldn't mind showing me around FATS a little I'd really appreciate it. Naturally, I will get the first round of post-ride beers. Feel free to post a meet-up time and place in this thread to get a group ride going or email me directly. We should be getting into town around 12 or 1pm, Sun May 19. Thanks, and have a great season, Sean MooreLouisville, KY

A lot of the local riders support the Lock to Lock ride (either as riders or volunteers) but if the weather is nice you will have no problem finding plenty of people to ride with. Hope you have a great time while you are in town. Depending on how fast a pace you ride, you could potentially do all 6 loops!

If he's a Cat1 he can definitely do all six loops in under 4hrs, probably under 3hrs.

Thank you for the responses and setting me up for getting crushed by local hammers Just kidding, I haven't raced in a couple of years but still enjoy a spirited ride with "a few good efforts". From what I read, all the loops in FATS amount to about 40 miles? I would love to hit them all, but don't want to make that the expectation. I'm down with whomever wants to ride and have fun, letting the group and conditions determine our pace and milage. Our timetable is looking more like a 1 pm arrival this Sunday, May 19th. Have a great week, and some excellent rides (on or off road).

You can knock it out in under 4hrs, a few folks have done it in less than 3hrs (one of them on a SS 'cross bike no less). If you've got time, might as well ride them all! Just keep taking right turns. Deep Step, Big Rock Tower, back to finish Deep Step, then pit stop at the car to top off bottles, then Great Wall, Skinny, and Brown Wave. Have fun!!
