All the rain and an opportunity via a business trip let us head 6 hours straight south to spend a long weekend exploring another IMBA designated Bronze Ride Center - Santos. While Florida is relatively flat the old limestone quarries around Ocala as well as some rolling terrain provides some diverse riding. There is a lot of beginner(yellow) singletrack on the ground but those lead over to intermediate (blue) trails and on to the advanced and expert red trails. The area around the Vortex TH contains a freeride area with jumps from beginner to advanced (20 foot drop) as well as a pump track, jump lanes, and some cool trail features along the IMBA Red Trail. 12 Hours of Santos was the happening event while we were there but only used 8.5 miles of this extensive trail system. Not being used during the event but this was the longest drop in the Vortex freeride area A more remote area of trails not to be missed includes the Nayls Trail.See more videos, pictures, and the rest of the story in the upcoming IMBA/SORBAcsra March newsletter!
